One postcard identified by Norman C. Schneider as the 118th Battalion in Victoria Park, Kitchener, Ont., 1916. Also in this image is a photographer with camera and tripod, preparing to take a picture. This postcard was sent to Floss Ahrens in Kansas City by E. Maude Garner and is stamped and postmarked Kitchener, Oct. 16, 1916.

1935 Federal Elections Campaign Speeches Collection

Collection contains a scrapbook of newspaper clippings concerning the 1935 federal elections in Canada. They document the campaign in Kitchener-Waterloo and the surrounding area, along with other parts of Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Included is coverage of various political parties such as the Conservatives, Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (C.C.F.) and Liberals. Clippings predominantly originate from the Kitchener Daily Record, with others from the Mail and Empire, the Toronto Star, and Daily Star appearing throughout.

50th Anniversary speech.

Consists of Norman C. Schneider's remarks (manuscript, original) to the family on May 20, 1975 at the Charcoal Steak House on the occasion of his 50th wedding anniversary. It includes reminiscences about his family's history: the J.M Schneider home on Courtland Ave., births known as "Lantern night" with family members moving between four homes in a row bringing lanterns and hot water. Also includes a brief background on Ethel Schneider's family and how she came to live next door to Norman's family.

809 Wellington Street property.

File consists of material relating to the property at 809 Wellington Street in Kitchener, ON; a zone change application and the potential purchase of parts of the property by Northport Landing (Waterloo, ON); and the purchase of parts of the property by First Gulf Development Corporation (Mississauga, ON).

Includes correspondence and memoranda, ms. notes, maps and folded site plans (and some photocopies of same), photocopies of extracts of zoning by-laws, copies of forms, a draft purchase agreement, and other material. Plans depict part 2 of lot 32 and 34, reg. plan 763, reference plan 58R-3130, in the City of Kitchener.

Collection consists of two plaques. One of is oval shaped with text that reads "Whaler Sailing 2nd Town of Dartmouth incorporated 1873 Bicentenary". The back of the plaque has an inscription stating it was made by the Atlantic Pattern Works. The second is a rectangular plaque with a metal etched portrait of a man in a suit and tie. On the back is a clipping that depicts the same image as on the front of with the name "Fred A. Hodgson" underneath.

A Wartime Log.

A log book published by the War Prisoners Aid of the Young Men's Christian Association in Geneva, Switzerland and given to Cameron Hill while he was a prisoner of war during the Second World War. Includes the original letter sent with the book to Cameron Hill by the Young Men's Christian Association.

Cameron filled the log book with poetry, diary entries, lists of rations, excerpts from correspondence, contact information for fellow prisoners of war that he met, and artwork completed by himself or other prisoners of war. In addition, Cameron pasted greeting cards, a photograph as well as Italian and German prisoner of war camp vouchers into the book.

Inside a pocket adhered to the back cover of the log book, Cameron stored additional items he accumulated before and after he was captured as a prisoner of war. This includes a Royal Canadian Air Force leave or pass form issued to Cameron in Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as cinema and opera house tickets for shows in England and a ticket from Iceland for an unknown event or activity. In addition, the pocket contains a Christmas card from the Vatican dated to 1942, an additional memorandum book filled with diary entries, Italian stamps, loose notes, a postal censorship slip, 1 Deutsche Mark, and a 10 Belgian franc banknote.

He purchased property from Alberta Scott in 1969 and sold property to Decho Properties Ltd. in 1970; he also sold to Robert Foreman in 1972. File includes incoming and outgoing correspondence, deeds, agreements, tax notices and assessments, notices and by-laws for the Corporation of the Town of Walkerton, handwritten notes, etc. File also includes plans of subdivisions in Walkerton (duplicates are present).
