Fonds consists of twelve daily diaries, intermittently spanning between 1907 and 1948, that contain entries pertaining to daily farm operations. Included, though unrelated, are two ledgers from a Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario general store for the years 1893 and 1907. Accounts listed include purchases by John King, father of William Lyon Mackenzie King, that help document the lifestyle of the King family while living at Woodside, now a National Historic Site.

Material relating to the organization, administration and operation of the United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area from 1941-1994. Included are include correspondence, minutes and reports, financial records, publications, ephemera, scrapbooks, sound and moving image material, artifacts, and other material created or received in the course of business. Fonds contains a record book belonging to Mary Augusta Fiske. The book contains recipes for cakes, sauces, and puddings. Also contains household accounts and several diary entries dating between 1876 and 1887. Attached to the inside of the front cover is a sepia toned photograph of an unidentified child. Next to it is a newspaper clipping regarding the death of Fiske titled "Death of Mrs. Gen. William O. Fiske".

Materials relating to the personal and professional life of Harry J. Byers. Includes photographs, coins, artefacts, correspondence, ephemera and more. Most of the items relate to Byers' time working in Russia from 1930-1931.

Two items of correspondence from Emily Bax to a Mrs. Milner Wood of Woodman's Point on the St. John's River, dated June 3, 1938 and May 16, 1939. Topics discussed include Emily Bax's book, the World's Fair, the King's speech, and her daily life and plans.

Collection consists of two items of correspondence from Lucy Stone to Mr. Michards. The letters are dated April 19th and 29th of 1893 and ask Mr. Michards to examine the records of his organization and see what arrangements Stone had made with them.

One scrapbook kept by Maria Louise Clough while on a trip from Boston to England, Scotland, France and Italy in 1886 and 1887. The scrapbook contains cards, correspondence, clippings, ephemera, and realia (including plant material), and provides insight into the activities and tastes of a young woman from that period of time. Among the contents are: Cunard ephemera (including deck plans, menus, passenger list), theatre ephemera (including Henry Irving in Faust at the Lyceum), a cigarette, lace, Westminster Abbey ephemera, transportation tickets, a moving-part Christmas card, fringe forming part of the decoration of the funeral car of the Duke of Wellington, postcards, engravings, hotel ephemera, identified leaves and flowers, etc.

One item of correspondence from Charles Gaston Smith Jr. of the Harvard Club of Boston to Eleanor Hallowell Abbott. The letter is dated July 25, 1924 and in it Smith asks Coburn if she knows of any girls in real life that are of the same quality as those in her books.

Includes annual reports, minutes of the Board of Directors and its committees, financial records, legal records relating to land transactions, returns to the Provincial Secretary, correspondence, and other records relating to buildings and facilities, staff and programs. Includes material relating to the K-W Y's Men's Club, Delta Phalanx, the Spokes Club and Pan Politae.

Draft speeches written by Joseph Connell between 1963 and 1966, and audio cassettes containing recordings of some speeches and sessions delivered during the Young Men’s Christian Association’s (YMCA) annual meeting held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 13-17, 1984. Also includes two audio cassettes featuring a recording of the salute to Joseph Orr Connell on his retirement from the YMCA in May 1976 and one audio cassette containing a recording of remarks given by Charles Greb at the opening of a new Waterloo Family YMCA on June 10, 1971.

Although few in number, the documents in this fonds are interesting the many insights they contain into the history of the local area. They consist mostly of land transactions, mortgages, declarations, and power of attorney. Some seem to have been retained as they pertain to personal or family business of members of the firm, such as documents relating to the estate of Christian Kumpf, whose daughter married A.B. McBride.

Some documents relate to well known names in the history of the area, such as David Kuntz of Kuntz Breweries and John Hoffman, for whom a survey of Waterloo was done in 1855, Thomas Hilliard, Charles Noecker, Ford S. Kumpf, etc.

Evidence of printing activity is present in legal forms printed by local booksellers and stationers for the firm. The documents contain evidence of trades and occupations of the time, including marble cutter, tailor, hotel keeper, farmer, woolen mill employee, button turner, shoe merchant, cabinet maker, tobbaconist, cigar box manufaturer, brewer, pumpmaker, telephone agent, etc. Also interesting to note is the shift to the use of a typewriter and the appearance of a female employee described as a "stenographer." Interesting also is the relative level of literacy evident in the signatures of individuals, particularly those of husbands and wives, many of whom are represented only by their "mark."

One photograph album kept by an unknown woman with pictures of famous women. The album is made with wooden boards which feature paintings of a sunset over water and a song sparrow with calligraphic poetry. Each page includes a photograph of a different woman surrounded by a hand drawn frame that speaks to her life and work. Women in the album include Florence Nightingale, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Dame Millicent Garrett Fawcett, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, Lady Florence Baker, Mary Somerville, Emily Davies, Johanna Maria Lind, and Rosa Bonheur.

The fonds consists of material relating to the history and operation of the Westmount Golf and Country Club in Kitchener, Ont. from its beginnings in 1929-1930 to 2000. Original documents include Board of Directors and other committee minutes, financial statements, tournament planning files, publications and ephemera as well as photographs and slides. The bulk of the fonds consists of manuscripts and other material gathered and prepared in for the publication of a 50th Anniversary history, Westmount Golf and Country Club, published in 1981.

Correspondence from Daniel Claus to Captain Matthews. The letter is regarding the capture of Peter Hansen and his servant as members of the rebellion by the Mohawk nation to be used to gather intelligence. The letter also mentions a contract for fresh meat, and that members of the village had been unwell. At this time Claus had been appointed deputy agent of the Six Nations in Canada under Frederick Haldimand.

Textual and graphic material created or accumulated by Dorothy Etta Russell (nee White) and other members of the Schantz and Russell families, primarily correspondence received by Dorothy and some of her diaries and notebooks. Also contains miscellaneous materials created or accumulated by Franklin Abram Schantz, family correspondence, and ephemera.

Textual and graphic material created or accumulated by members of the Schantz families, primarily photographs of extended Schantz family members and material created and accumulated by Orpheus Moyer Schantz. The B.P. Nichol Library of Science Fiction, acquired in 1990, consists of more than 500 science fiction titles from the private library of the late Canadian writer, B.P. Nichol (commonly referred to as bpNichol).

Many well-known science fiction authors' first works were issued only in paperback, and this collection includes many key titles in the science fiction genre which are extremely scarce today as a result of the vulnerability of the paperback format to deterioration. The books in this collection feature many striking examples of cover art.

One handwritten letter from Robert Southey addressed to a William Webb of Dublin. The letter was sent from Keswick and is dated November 8, 1826. Also includes an etching of Southey.

Two sets of minutes from the St. Jacob's Literary and Debating Society. The minutes include lists of members, as well as debate topics and outcomes. Debate topics include work life, the railway, social services, roles of men and women, annexing Canada to the United States, and more.

Materials created and accumulated by Harry Huehnergard including an aerial photograph of the Uniroyal Chemical plant in Elmira and an edition of the Kitchener-Waterloo Record with a front-page article about Harry published on the occasion of his retirement.

Includes one stereograph that is an example of spirit photography.

One will for Abram Ball of Galt. Lists gifts of possessions and money to family members, as well as the Galt estate known as "The Cedars" (45 Blair Road) to his wife Julia Ball.

Collection consists of 82 plans of gravel pits in Ontario. The plans have been collected by Wayne Caston, and he was involved in consulting in many of the projects. The records in this finding aid consist of information taken from an Excel spreadsheet created by Caston with details on each of the plans. A printout of the spreadsheet is also present in the collection. Plans are listed in the order originally provided by the donor on the spreadsheet.

Collection consists of artefacts from the School of Pharmacy, including pharmacy bottles and a register of poisons.

Fonds consists of material relating to the history and operations of the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, from its beginnings in 1878 to 1988. Also consists of historical materials on the history of Waterloo County and the Region of Waterloo including newspaper articles, slides, photographs, and negatives. Includes legal documents, clippings, ephemera, publications, artifacts, office files, photographic materials, and films.

Fonds consists of materials relating to the life and career of Jerzy Pindera, with a specific focus on his time in World War II and as a prisoner of war in Sachsenhausen concentration camp during the Holocaust. Includes correspondence, articles, war records and short stories, as well as tapes of interviews conducted with Pindera.

Fonds primarily focuses on Jo Davis' work as co-founder, vice-president, etc., of the Canadian women's group known as the "Voice of Women". Davis was actively involved from 1960 to 1963. The group still exists but Davis is no longer involved.

Included here are correspondence, memos, briefs, speeches and clippings which document the change in focus of the group from its early years--a change which ultimately resulted in Davis' resignation (January 22, 1963). Included on many folders or individual pieces of correspondence are Davis' notes, done in 1990, which reveal a unique perspective of early events.

The fonds also contains groups of papers documenting Davis' interests prior to her work with the Voice of Women (World Refugee Year), projects concomitant with VOW activities (Canadian Peace Research Institute and lnternational Cooperation Year) and projects subsequent to VOW activities (Harold King Farm and French Week). Small amounts of materials relate to Davis' current interests such as The Turnaround Decade Group.

Fonds consists of negatives and proof prints taken by Robert T.G. Nicol under the name of Personal Studio between 1946 and 1996. Studio, home portraits and candid photography of families and weddings, as well as commercial jobs for many local industries and businesses document comprehensively the growth and changes in the way of life in the Waterloo Region in the post-war era. Many nationally important companies employed Nicol, some as their "house photographer": these include B.F. Goodrich, Budd Automotive, Mutual Life Insurance Co., Bell Telephone, Electrohome, Raytheon, IBM, and Greb Shoes. Many types of businesses are represented: storefronts and interiors of banks, clothing, department, music, furniture and grocery stores, dairies, factories, restaurants, hotels and motels, churches, service stations, car dealerships, service industries, construction trades, and more.

Fonds consists of publications and ephemera issued by the Parents' Information Bureau, correspondence, biographical and autobiographical material about A.R. Kaufman in the form of clippings, reminsiscences, interviews, speeches, etc.

The materials in this collection were assembled by Seagram Museum staff from a number of sources and reflect the museum's focus on the beverage alcohol industry in the North American context. A gavel plaque given to Paul Koch (BASc ’63) in recognition of his role as the first B Term President for the Engineering Society of the University of Waterloo (now Waterloo Engineering Society) from 1958-1959. In addition to the gavel, the plaque also features an engraving plate with the following inscription: PAUL KOCH / PRESIDENT / ENGINEERING SOCIETY / OF THE / UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO / 1958-59.

Consists of Marion Conroy's copies of material given to delegates at the National Conference of Regional Chairmen, Consumer Branch, Wartime Prices and Trade Board held in 1944, and includes the agenda and outline of issues for the Conference, as well as a separate report submitted by Kate Aitken, Supervisor of the Conservation Programme, on the establishment and progress across Canada of "Remake Centres." These centres were for teaching women to conserve new yard goods by making over existing garments.

The fonds also contains a scrapbook kept by Marion Conroy of clippings and ephemera dating from 1941-1944. As well as documenting Marion Conroy's activities, the scrapbook contains information on the organization and personalities involved in the Board and the Consumer Branch, such Donald Gordon and Byrne Hope Sanders. Also present are news accounts of the many rules and regulations applied to all aspects of the production and consumption of consumer goods, from fashion, food and drink, and housing, to the delivery and return of purchased goods.
