      General note

Photo caption accompanying 54-6159_005, 54-6159_006 and a version of 54-6159_009: "FOLLOW REGULAR LEGAL PROCEDURE - In an effort to convince K-W Collegiate authorities they are capable of having more voice in school administration, responsible students have undertaken to curb school infractions by a student-operated court. The system is illustrated here in pictures. A student breaking a jaywalking law (second from left) [photo missing from envelope] in front of the school is spotted by law enforcement officer whose name is included in a warning list on bulletin board (left) [photo missing from envelope, see 54-6159_009 for closest version]. If it is the third offence the accused is summonsed by bailiff (second from right) [54-6159_006] for court appearance. Offender then engages lawyer (right) [54-6159_005] to prepare his defence."

      General note

Photo caption from published version of 54-6159_002: "ARGUE CASE IN COURT - Brought into court, the defendant stands (rear) while defence (left) and prosecuting lawyers argue the case. Girls and boys (in background) form jury and hear testimony with judge (seated at table to far right) [illegible] recorded by court reporter."

      General note

Photo caption from published version of 54-6159_001: ""SENTENCED TO STUDY" - Convicted, the offender studies before morning classes in keeping with judge's sentence, which varies with the seriousness of the offence."
