Series consists of press coverage of Electrohome; the company's operations, activities, and products; issues of interest to the company; and Electrohome personnel. Includes press clippings, photocopies of press clippings, magazines containing articles about Electrohome, and reprints of magazine and newspaper articles. Some of the press clippings were obtained through the Canadian Press Clipping Service. Some of the clippings are loose, and some were compiled into binders corresponding to a specific time period.

Sales and Marketing : Projection Systems Marketing and Communications Manager Files

Series consists of records accumulated and used by Jeffrey Brum, Marketing and Communications Manager, Projection Systems. In 1987, the Electrohome Electronics group was divided into four business sectors: Display Systems, Projection Systems, Digital Video (i.e. Jazz Systems), and Operational Services (e.g. circuit board operations). At that time, it seems that the marketing, communications, and public relations functions were transferred from a centralized department to each of these sectors.

Records in this series relate to the development of marketing and communications plans for the Projection Systems sector, the design and production of product literature and publicity material, advertising plans and activities in co-operation with dealers, and the development of a long-range strategic plan for the sector.

Includes correspondence and memoranda (including faxes and some e-mail print-outs); marketing, communications, and advertising proposals, plans and budgets; product literature, including dummies, layouts, and blueline proofs; news releases; meeting agendas and minutes; agreements; and other material.

Series consists of company newsletters and bulletins, produced and distributed for internal communications and publicity purposes.

The employee newsletter Sparks and Chips was begun by Carl A. Pollock to foster inter-employee relationships and management-employee relations. The first issue was published on December 18, 1942, with Pollock as the first editor. It ran until ca. 1977. In 1980, a new company newsletter, Electrohome Update, was introduced to provide employees news on company people, products, and policies. In 1990, this newsletter was merged with Electrohome World, which contained news of the corporation's marketing activities for the dealer/distributor network in North America and abroad; the new Electrohome World was published for employees and dealer/distributors. Sparks and Chips: the next generation was introduced in 1994 as an informal newsletter for reporting plant activities, news, and ideas.

Several other internal newsletters and bulletins were published over the history of Electrohome.

Harvey J. Sims : Chicopee

Records relating to the Harvey J. Sims' development of Chicopee, a 45-acre estate near Kitchener, Ont., where he built a home designed by Forsey Page and Steele, Architects, and designed and landscaped the grounds with the help of Carl Borgstrom of Carl Borgstrom and H.M.S. Carver, Landscape Architects. He was instrumental in the reforestation of the contiguous properties in Chicopee Hills, and in only a few years planted on his property more than 700 varieties of trees and shrubs.
Includes correspondence to and from architects, landscape planners, nurseries, and government agencies concerning the development of Harvey's house and grounds, also the reforestation of the surrounding area, dated 1927 to 1941. The correspondence files described in this series are together as found. Harvey's Personal Business Files in Series 8 contain a great deal of supplementary material in the way of correspondence, invoices, lists, time sheets, etc., with seed houses, nurseries, companies, and individuals supplying material and furnishings for the home and grounds, from water heaters and wiring to billiard table lights.
Harvey was particularly interested in collecting as many native species of trees and shrubs as would grow in this climate and his collecting activities are documented by correspondence with arboreta, university horticulture departments, government nurseries, and government officials and employees who were at that time developing botanical garden plans in Hamilton and Niagara.

Records relating to Harvey J. Sims' development of a library of books at his Chicopee home, in which he was aided by Adam Strohm, Librarian at the Detroit Public Library and Charles R. Sanderson, Chief Librarian of the Toronto Public Library. Harvey turned his planned billiard room into a library instead and set about filling it with books. Although this series contains only two files, it represents a significant activity in Harvey's life.

Series consists of documents relating to land transactions. Most materials document the ownership history of the property consisting of Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4, and in particuar Lot 3, on the south (or west) side of Ahrens Street and the north side of Weber Street in David Weber's survey in the town of Berlin (now Kitchener); this property contained the Anthes home at 44 Weber Street and the Rieder home at 58 Roy Street.

Also present are documents relating to other land in Berlin as well as land in the Township of Wilmot, the Town of Moberly, and the District of Parry Sound. Series includes mortgages, deeds and certificates of ownership, abstracts from the Registry Office (Berlin), invoices, etc.

Series consists of files relating to consulting and advisory work by James Downey on behalf of provincial governments. James Downey was special advisor to the premier of New Brunswick from 1990 to 1993 and was co-chair of the Commission on Excellence in Education in New Brunswick. In 2003 he was appointed advisor to the Minister of Education on Ontario's Rural Education Strategy review. Includes correspondence, briefing notes, submissions, reports, clippings, publications and ephemera.
