Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to the legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada. Some of the material documents attitudes among opponents of same-sex marriage and Bill C-250 An Act to amend the Criminal Code (hate propaganda). This includes correspondence, flyers, pamphlets, a report on the implications for Canadian children of same-sex marriage, letters and flyers from Stephen Harper advocating for Bill C-447 An act to protect the institution of marriage.

The file also contains material documenting attitudes among supporters of same-sex marriage and Bill C-250. This includes correspondence, briefs to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, and a report from the National Liberal Caucus Research Bureau discrediting the idea of implementing a federal civil registry for same-sex couples.

Additionally, the file contains material documenting Telegdi’s political activities supporting the legalization of same-sex marriage in Canada and Bill C-250 such as correspondence, talking points, draft speeches written by Telegdi, and records related to Telegdi’s participation in two town hall meetings in the Kitchener-Waterloo area including the town hall meeting on August 27, 2003 hosted by Tristan Emmanuel.
