General note
A cropped version of 45-198_001 appeared on Page 3 of the Thursday, July 19, 1945 edition of the newspaper as part of the article: "2 Ayr Bank Robbery Suspects Stage Daring Jailbreak. Saw Through Bars, Scale 24-Foot Wall."
General note
Photo caption from published version of 45-198_001: "JAILBREAK SCENE - The Waterloo County Jail from where Ulysses Lauzon and Joseph Peltier, Ayr bank robbery suspects, escaped today is shown above. The pair sawed through steel bars of windows to the rear of the chimney shown at the left of the picture. They then made their way to the top of the jail yard wall near the extreme right and from there slid down a light standard in the picture at right, to the Kitchener Bowling Club greens."
