Series consists of the working files of Michael Vaughan containing material created, accumulated and used by Vaughan during his involvement with the MLA from 1969 to 1986. Records relate mainly to his role as member (1969-1975), vice-chair (1975-1977), chair (1977-1982), and past chair (1982-1984) of the Committee on Land Use, Taxation, and Highways; and as vice-president (1982-1984) and president (1984-1986) of the association.

Series also includes records relating to various other committees, issues, and events. The Committee on Land Use, Taxation, and Highways was responsible for examining and responding to town planning, development, and other land use issues in the Muskoka region. One of the developments of major concern during Vaughan's tenure as chair was a proposed resort at the Roseneath property on Beaumaris Island, and several files in this series relate to this issue.

Political Portfolio Chairperson's Files : Robert Topp

Series consists of material created and accumulated by Robert Topp in his role as Chair of the Political Portfolio and its Taxation Committee (1994-1995) and member of the Political Portfolio and Chair of its Taxation Committee (1995-1996).

The Political Portfolio was involved in political and tax-related issues, and during this period was especially focused on property taxation and a group appeal of the 1992 property assessment to the Assessment Review Board launched in 1995 on behalf of over 1000 MLA members with property on Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau, and Joseph.

The appeal resulted in a decision favourable for the association that was then appealed by the Assessment Commissioner to the Ontario Municipal Board, where the association was partly successful and was granted leave to appeal to the Ontario Divisional Court.

Series consists of business records, correspondence and ephemera related to the life and activities of Louis Breithaupt and his family, first in Buffalo, N.Y. and then in Berlin (later Kitchener), Ontario from 1848-1881. The majority relate to the operation of his tanning business, and include account books, agreements, correspondence with family, friends, employees and business contacts, freight receipts, invoices, legal and tax documents. Included are records relating to Louis Breithaupt's tannery businesses in Buffalo and Berlin including documentation of his partnership and work with Jacob F. Schoellkopf. It also documents the sale of land by Jacob Hailer to Louis Breithaupt and Jacob Wagner and the subsequent legal documents necessary after Jacob Wagner's death. Includes financial records, agreements and records relating to property.

Also in the series are business and personal papers of Louis Breithaupt including business and personal correspondence, statements of accounts, freight receipts, notes payable, ephemera, etc. The correspondence is in both English and German and it is evident that Louis was comfortable using either language. Correspondents include relatives and friends, like his mother Catharina, and friends and business contacts like Charles A. Ahrens in Berlin, Ontario, and from from Jacob Hailer.

Publicity : Internal Publications

Series consists of company newsletters and bulletins, produced and distributed for internal communications and publicity purposes.

The employee newsletter Sparks and Chips was begun by Carl A. Pollock to foster inter-employee relationships and management-employee relations. The first issue was published on December 18, 1942, with Pollock as the first editor. It ran until ca. 1977. In 1980, a new company newsletter, Electrohome Update, was introduced to provide employees news on company people, products, and policies. In 1990, this newsletter was merged with Electrohome World, which contained news of the corporation's marketing activities for the dealer/distributor network in North America and abroad; the new Electrohome World was published for employees and dealer/distributors. Sparks and Chips: the next generation was introduced in 1994 as an informal newsletter for reporting plant activities, news, and ideas.

Several other internal newsletters and bulletins were published over the history of Electrohome.

Series consists of records accumulated and used by Jeffrey Brum, Marketing and Communications Manager, Projection Systems. In 1987, the Electrohome Electronics group was divided into four business sectors: Display Systems, Projection Systems, Digital Video (i.e. Jazz Systems), and Operational Services (e.g. circuit board operations). At that time, it seems that the marketing, communications, and public relations functions were transferred from a centralized department to each of these sectors.

Records in this series relate to the development of marketing and communications plans for the Projection Systems sector, the design and production of product literature and publicity material, advertising plans and activities in co-operation with dealers, and the development of a long-range strategic plan for the sector.
