General note
80-0014-286 appeared on page 83 of Ken McLaughlin's Waterloo : The Unconventional Founding of an Unconventional University [G13961] with the caption: "Not wishing to replicate the "Beer Tower" incident, the next class of incoming engineering students hung a banner on the front facade of the Waterloo Hotel. The president of the Engineering Society was commissioned to distract the police officer at the corner of King and Erb Streets as the banner was put in place, and the Waterlo Hotel was officially re-named Annex Five. A complicit management allowed the banner to remain for several weeks."
