General note
Photo caption from published version of 47-712_001 and missing photos: "DON'T WANT THESE BUILDINGS - The House of Refuge Board has turned down a government offer of $12,000 for buildings of the former C.W.A.C. Training Centre. The property is owned by the county and buildings erected during the war are now valued at $400,000. The board said that according to an original agreement the government should return the land to its original use, and with the present structures it could cost the board $100,000 to clear the site to a saleable lot state. Top photo [missing from envelope, no suitable substitute] shows the huge drill hall, centre photo [missing from envelope, no suitable substitute] typical living quarters now being used as emergency shelters, and lower [47-712_001], one of the large mess halls."
