Biographical history
Anthony Morse ("Tony") Urquhart was a Canadian artist and a professor of fine arts at the University of Waterloo. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on April 9, 1934, he studied art at the Albright Art School and University of Buffalo, and attended the Yale summer school for fine arts. Urquhart moved to London, Ontario in 1960 where he served as the school's first-artist-in-residence, staying on to run the McIntsh Art Gallery and later teach. While in London he was involved with the founding of Canadian Artists' Representation. a non-profit organization Urquhart joined the University of Waterloo in 1972, where he was a founding member of the Department of Fine Arts and taught until his retirement in 1999. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 1995. Urquhart died January 26, 2022 at the age of 87.

Accrual consists of material relating to the artistic career of Tony Urquhart as well as his personal life. The materials in this accrual are arranged according to the series set out in the original finding aid, with some exceptions.
