Pollock in their roles as company directors. The company operated as the Boehmer Box Co., a family-run paper box manufacturing company established in 1874 in Kitchener. Carl Pollock was a director, secretary-treasurer, and vice-president of the company.

In 1974, the directors authorized Floyd Boehmer (president), Carl Pollock, and John Pollock to attempt the sale of the company, but it is unclear whether the company was actually sold at that time. Series includes financial statements, correspondence, memoranda, reports, agreements, ms. notes, and other material.

Public Relations Working Files : Electrohome Design Lecture Series

Series consists of records relating to the planning and organization of and publicity for the Electrohome Design Lecture Series held in March, 1973 and in October, 1974. The lectures, held to inform and educate entrepreneurs and designers in manufacturing and the general public about the effective use of industrial design, were planned, implemented, and sponsored by Electrohome, and conducted in co-operation with the National Design Council, the Office of Design, Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce, and the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers.

The 1973 series opened at the University of Waterloo, followed by lectures at the University of Montreal, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Manitoba. The 1974 series included lectures at the University of Toronto, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Montreal.

In 1987, the Electrohome Electronics group was divided into four business sectors: Display Systems, Projection Systems, Digital Video (i.e. Jazz Systems), and Operational Services (e.g. circuit board operations). At that time, it seems that the marketing, communications, and public relations functions were transferred from a centralized department to each of these sectors.

Records in this series relate to the development of marketing and communications plans for the Projection Systems sector, the design and production of product literature and publicity material, advertising plans and activities in co-operation with dealers, and the development of a long-range strategic plan for the sector.

Museum and Archives

Series consists of material relating to the development, organization, and operation of a company museum and archives. The museum was originally established in 1967 as a centennial project and part of the 60th anniversary celebration, in order to display products produced by Electrohome since 1907. John Koegler was the company historian and museum curator.

The museum as well as the company archives were given renewed attention in preparation for the company's 90th anniversary and the production of a corporate history book in 1997. At that time, William McGregor (former vice-president of Electrohome) was involved museum administration, and Nicola McLaughlin was hired to research company history and process and manage the archives.

Series includes material relating to the day-to-day operation of the museum and archives, the collection and processing of items, and the recording of historical information. Includes forms, correspondence, memoranda, press clippings, photocopies of historical advertisements and other documents, photographs and slides, ms. notes, meeting minutes, and other material.

Series consists of material relating to the proposal, production, distribution, and lanuch of the corporate history Visionary Thinking : The Story of Canada's Electrohome by Raymond Stanton, published by Canadian Corporate Histories (Kitchener, ON) in 1997. Includes files of research material about the history of Electrohome, probably compiled by Nicola McLaughlin for Stanton's use, and files of visual material used in the book, pulled from other files in the collection most likely by McLaughlin.

Some of the press clippings were obtained through the Canadian Press Clipping Service. Some of the clippings are loose, and some were compiled into binders corresponding to a specific time period.

Series consists of four scrapbooks containing press clippings, photographs, and ephemera relating to Carl A. Pollock and his activities as Electrohome president and chairman of the board of directors, his involvement in the community, and his personal life. One of the scrapbooks was presented to Pollock by the Canadian Manufacturers' Association in memory of his term as association president (1962-1963).
