Betty Forbes's diary.

A diary containing daily entries written by Betty Forbes in 1944 during her time as a student at the School for Nurses at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. Several entries describe Betty’s work at the hospital, student exams and marks, school dances, class dinners, and capping ceremony. The diary includes press clippings, letters, notes, event programs, and a photograph of an adult and child. In addition, numerous entries describe events and activities related to the Second World War including an entry written on D-Day (June 6, 1944). Some of these entries contain attached items such as press clippings related to military personnel and banknotes including a 1 lire banknote issued by Italy in 1939, 5-francs Type 1942 issued by Banque de l'Algérie, a 10-AM lire banknote as well as a one shilling and a half shilling Japanese government-issued Oceanian Pound.

File contains negatives of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's royal visit to Kitchener during the extended Ontario royal tour in 1973. Prince Philip accompanied the Queen. The negatives depict the royal couple at the Canadian National Railway (CNR) station in Kitchener boarding the royal train for the tour. Most of the negatives depict the Queen and Prince Philip waving from the back of the Caboose. The Krug Furniture factory in downtown Kitchener can be seen in the background.

The Concordia’s choir and the Dutch Boy Cadets are also seen singing and playing music during the event.

In the carriage are shown Martha Esther Murphy Bowlby and Janie Elizabeth Bowlby Clement, being pulled by mare Dolly. In front of the home are shown David Sovereign Bowlby, George Herbert Bowlby, Blanche Alexandrine (Adine) Seagram Bowlby, David Shannon Bowlby, and Grace Esther Bowlby Fennell. The photograph was used in "Busy Berlin" in 1897.
