General note
51-2668_002 appeared in the August 8, 1951 edition of the paper as part of the article "Modern Kitchener Home for Blind". Captioned MEN'S LOUNGE - Donald McLeod, Galt, recounts some good Scotch stories to friend David Sweitzer of Waterloo in the smartly furnished men's lounge. Lounges are equipped with plush chairs, tables and a radio - all brightly colored.
51-2668_003 captioned DINING HALL - More than 40 persons can eat in the dining room at one time. Furnishings are blonde wood with big windows and brightly colored drapes.
51-2668_004 captioned SAFE STAIRS - F.H. Wahl pauses at the top of main stairway in the modern building. All stairs have gates at top and bottom so the blind know where to start. There is a heavy railing all the way down.
51-2668_005 captioned MODERN KITCHEN - Kitchen layout and equipment is the last word in modern planning. Mrs. James Skerritt, Sr. prepared supper for the 10 residents there now.
51-2668_007 captioned HURONIA HALL - Residents have started to move into the new home for the blind on Borden Ave. Huronia Hall is placed on a pleasant, spacious site near the Kitchener Auditorium.
Negative missing from enveloped captioned STRETCH LEGS - F.H. Tom Wahl and Mrs. Gertrude Hunter, both of Galt, walk briskly down the wide front sidewalk. Mr. Wahl was inquiring from passerby about the nearest store so he could pick up some razor blades.
