General note

80-02-37_002 appeared on Page 1 of the Wednesday, March 8, 1980 edition of the Gazette.

General note

Photo caption from published version of 80-02-37_002: "It's power-off for the 360 - Dr. Burt Matthews, UW's president, put on a hard hat Wednesday and, as hundreds of students watched and the Warrior Band played, pressed the button which ended the working life of UW's old IBM 360/75 computer. Computing services director Paul Dirksen presented a hunk of the 13-year-old beast to his predecessor, Dr. Wes Graham, as a souvenir. The flashing control panel is to be preserved; the rest of the now obsolete computer is being sold for parts."
