Biographical history
The Student Alumni Association (SAA) was a volunteer student organization overseen by the Office of Alumni Affairs dedicated to strengthening connections between students, alumni, and the University of Waterloo, while fostering lifelong alumni engagement and enhancing student life. The association’s initiatives included the establishment of the Alumni Lane campaign, the distribution of final exam survival kits, serving as ambassadors during campus events, conducting campus tours, and hosting a variety of events such as dance-a-thons and book sales.

A handwritten note taped to the exterior of the original time capsule box providing instructions that the capsule was not to be opened until the Student Alumni Association’s (SAA) 25th anniversary reunion, planned for November 2009. It is not known whether the anniversary event took place, whether the capsule was opened as intended, or whether it remained sealed.

Physical condition
The original time capsule container was a plain, reused cardboard box that was in poor condition at the time of accession. The box was discarded during processing and the contents were rehoused to ensure their long-term preservation. The handwritten note included in this file was removed from the original box and rehoused in a file folder.
