Lloyd Stamp fonds.

Four large albums, entitled "Pan Politae and Friends", that contain photographs, ephemera and text, both original and copies, relative to the history of the Pan Politae Club, as well as photographs and biographical information about its members from 1938 to 1995.

The history of Pan Politae is documented through current and historical portraits, as well as photographs of activities such as reunions. The albums include photographs of fundraising projects like the Christmas tree sales and service projects events held with the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) camps. Photographs depict service work done primarily in Camp Wabanaki at its original location on Beausoleil Island, Georgian Bay, which was destroyed by fire in ca. 1970.

These albums were compiled to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA. Included are portraits of and information about K-W YMCA Presidents, influential members, former staff, and information about awards and recipients. Also included is correspondence addressed to Lloyd Stamp from former members of the Pan Politae Club where they discuss their experiences and reflections from their time in the club.

Carbon typescript transcript of Arthur Lang's diary prepared as a Christmas souvenir in 1907 by T.A. Lang in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. It includes a copy of a letter from one of Arthur Lang's granddaughters, giving some family background. Arthur Lang describes the sea voyage, scenery, and passengers on trip from Montreal, through the Lachine Rapids, to Prescott, Ontario. The diary also discusses Lang’s experiences inspecting land near the townships of Ramsay, Lanark, and Dalhousie in Lanark County, Ontario.

Robert Dorney fonds.

Fonds consists of textual and visual materials created and received by Dorney over the course of his career, including drafts and reprints of most of his published writings, teaching and course materials, audio-visual materials, framed items, ephemera and realia. Of interest is an original map by Dorney which attempts to reconstruct the original vegetation patterns in North Dumfries Township in Waterloo County in the 19th century. Dorney's collection of slides is particularly significant in its documentation of natural vegetation, urban impact and areas of ecological interest both locally and elsewhere and includes extensive documentation of the "mini-forest" at his home at 124 Amos Ave. in Waterloo.

Jo Davis fonds.

Fonds primarily focuses on Jo Davis' work as co-founder, vice-president, etc., of the Canadian women's group known as the "Voice of Women". Davis was actively involved from 1960 to 1963. The group still exists but Davis is no longer involved.

Included here are correspondence, memos, briefs, speeches and clippings which document the change in focus of the group from its early years--a change which ultimately resulted in Davis' resignation (January 22, 1963). Included on many folders or individual pieces of correspondence are Davis' notes, done in 1990, which reveal a unique perspective of early events.

The fonds also contains groups of papers documenting Davis' interests prior to her work with the Voice of Women (World Refugee Year), projects concomitant with VOW activities (Canadian Peace Research Institute and lnternational Cooperation Year) and projects subsequent to VOW activities (Harold King Farm and French Week). Small amounts of materials relate to Davis' current interests such as The Turnaround Decade Group.

Scholarship Fund.

File consists of records documenting activities related to the scholarship fund administered by the Kitchener-Waterloo Council of Friendship between 1958 to 1971 focused on providing financial aid to new, young Canadians for higher education purposes. Included are the names of scholarship winners; the name of contributors to the scholarship fund; as well as correspondence from the Council to contributors explaining how the funds were distributed among the winners. File also contains records regarding the rules and eligibility for the scholarship and some completed applications.

English-speaking Classes.

File records the activities of the Kitchener-Waterloo Council of Friendship regarding their program for English-Speaking classes, dating between 1967 to 1970. Includes blank forms on employee's tax deductions, employment contract forms, as well as citizenship employment with the Ontario provincial government for applications as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teaching position. There are also order forms for language textbooks and news clippings about registration for English classes with the YWCA in Kitchener. Correspondence in the file pertain to exchanges between Minnie Maines and the Ontario government's citizenship branch regarding the establishment of English classes for new immigrants to Canada.

File consists of a notebook kept by Minnie O'Hara Maines with minutes from meetings with the Executive Committee, the Education Committee, the Committee for English-speaking classes at the YWCA, and the Canadian Affairs Group. Also included are two reports from 1957 and 1958 summarizing the activities of the Council's Service, Education, and Social committees; brochures from 1966 and 1967 outlining the general responsibilities and scope of the council; as well as a 1960 letter from Victoria Ullman to Maines, in which Ullman is thanking Maines for the bursary she received, are also included in the file.

Accounts listed include purchases by John King, father of William Lyon Mackenzie King, that help document the lifestyle of the King family while living at Woodside, now a National Historic Site.

The back of the plaque has an inscription stating it was made by the Atlantic Pattern Works. The second is a rectangular plaque with a metal etched portrait of a man in a suit and tie. On the back is a clipping that depicts the same image as on the front of with the name "Fred A. Hodgson" underneath.

Consists of a deed of bargain and sale on vellum. The deed, dated December 12, 1834, details a transaction between Vincent Dewell, and his wife Harriet, with Henry Smith regarding a plot of land in exchange for 50 pounds. The plot of land is identified as the west part of lot 29 on the 8th concession of Hope Township in Durham County, Upper Canada. Two red wax seals appear on the bottom right corner of the deed.

The letter describes the history of the Spanish River Lumber Company that operated near the Sauble River, between 1882 and the 1940's, focusing on the 20th century history of the company. Account makes reference to the Spanish River Indian Reserve, Wahnapitae, Ontario, the Great Lakes Storm of 1913 and the Mississauga Timber Reserve. Also included is a business card dated July 14, 1958, for Noranda Mines Limited located in Toronto, Ontario with a handwritten note that reads: Thought this might interest you. Some of the clippings are accompanied by handwritten annotations. The scrapbook has a front pocket that holds several loose-leaf notes, clippings, and pamphlets.

Clippings cover a wide range of topics concerning the London County Council and Kensington Parliament such as meetings, motions, tax reforms, public addresses, as well as news about the law and parliamentary committees.
