Maud and her husband Oliver are recently married and Maud discusses life in Australia including a dried flower competition that she entered and that she is no longer teaching. She also complains that Oliver is away a lot, leaving her a "grass widow." Maud also asks after Annie and Howard, presumably the children of her aunt and uncle.

Ca. [44] p. ms. diary contained in a coverless notebook kept by J. H. Shoults. This diary covers the period July 1, 1878 to Dec. 31, 1878 when Shoults lived in Little Britain, and it contains daily entries recording personal, social, and professional activities, as well as accounts of weather conditions. Diary entries relate to Shoults' activities as a minister, and include the names of the places where he preached and of the Bible readings which formed the basis for his services. Reference is also made to the many church meetings he participated in, to individuals he baptized, to funerals, to a Christian conference, and to other church activities in which he was involved. Descriptions of family, social, and parish visits are also contained in this diary, including the names of many friends and acquaintances.

A gold pin, once owned by Florence Steiner, an early member of the Toronto Branch of the C. W.P. C which was founded in 1909. This pin was later passed on to Florence Steiner's niece, Florence (King) Blackwell, who belonged first to the Montreal Branch of the C. W.P.C and later to the Toronto Branch.

The other two pins contained in this file are sterling silver and are from Birks Jewellers. They belonged to members of the Toronto Branch of the club but it is not clear what period they date from.

The first letter is addressed to Mrs. Bancker regarding her daughter Carol's appearance as a child model in photo shoot by Helen Lee that appeared on page 167 of the October 26, 1953 edition of LIFE magazine. Some of the drafts make reference to Gulliver's Travels. The second letter is addressed to [W. H.] Auden regarding children in the writing of Lewis Carroll following a review written by Auden titled The Man Who wrote Alice that appeared in [the February 28, 1954 edition] of the New York Times. Revision annotations appear throughout.
