General note
The Executive Committee of the Grand River Conservation Commission was established subsequent to the enactment of a Province of Ontario statute titled An Act to provide for the Conservation of Water (Grand River Conservation Act) on April 8, 1938, which defined the powers of the Grand River Conservation Commission and provided for the appointment or election of Commissioners to an Executive Committee. The GRCC Executive Committee, which consisted of the Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer and at least two Commissioners, appears to have been principally concerned with approving major work projects for tender, negotiating with provincial authorities and approving payments.
