Memorandum Book: Cochran & Co., New York.

One small leather-bound booklet with inscription "From J.N. Moyer to his Nephew Orpheus Moyer Schantz, Campden, Lincoln Co., Ont., 5th April, 1869. This booklet is the "annual circular" of the Cochran Co. and alternates blank pages with a catalogue of dry goods carried. Orpheus Schantz began to use this as a drawing book in 1878, and it contains drawings in pencil of animals both domestic and foreign, each signed and dated.

Three manuscript poems from J. N. Moyer to the children of Tobias and Mary Schantz while they were living in Conestoga, Ont., one entitled "Johnny's Address to Santa Claus" dated Dec. 24, 1878, one illustrated calligraphic manuscript New Year's poem: "1879 AD, Affectionately Inscribed to His Nephews and Nieces, by J. N. Moyer", and one entitled "Six Children Beloved" dated Jan. 21, 1879.

  • Nine certificates issued to Etta Lydia Mary White (nee Schantz) and signed by her teacher, G.A. McIntyre attesting that she received no discredit marks for the period January-November 1879 while attending the Conestoga Public School. The certificates have printed images of birds on recto.
  • Cards were found in the original envelope addressed by hand to Miss Etta Schantz, West Montrose, Ontario.
