Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament documenting his personal interest and political involvement in matters relating to Canadian-Hungarian relations. Many records detail events and activities held in Hungary in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of revolutions that swept across Europe in 1848. In addition, several documents address Hungary’s integration into Europe and interest in joining the United Nations. Other records outline the condition of Hungarian schools in Transylvania, the repatriation of Hungarian owned artwork residing in Canada following the Second World War, and other topics. Records include reports, speech transcripts, correspondence, invitations, handwritten notes, and a notebook.

A berthing card and meal card issued to Cameron Hill during the Second World War likely when he traveled on a troopship sailing from Halifax Harbour in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Liverpool, England between August and September 1941.
The berthing card indicates that Cameron was assigned to cabin S22, in section 3 of the Sports deck. The meal card indicates that Cameron was assigned to eat first meal (breakfast) during the second sitting at table number 28. The name of the ship that Cameron traveled on is unknown.

The interview includes discussions about Jewinski's family background, their decision to come to Waterloo and the path that brought them here, as well as their thoughts about the institution and where it will be at 100 years old, in 2057. The portrait is surrounded in each corner by images of the Royal Dragoons, Gordon Highlanders, Bengal Lancers and Irish Guards and a border of flags, British, French, Russian, Russian Imperial, Belgian, and one unknown flag [possibly Serbian?].

Includes several candid letters from Eduard Höpken that describe his experiences during and after World War II as well as the political climate in Germany during the 1950s. Of special interest is a family newsletter written on January 6, 1971 by Eduard and his wife Elisabeth Höpken that provides biographical information about their children including Gisela Sommer and her husband Ulrich Sommer, Johann Höpken, Walter Höpken, Karl Höpken, Wilhelm Höpken, and Peter Höpken. Records include letters and postcards.

Correspondence primarily between members of the Sommer family. Includes letters interspersed with details about family life such as Ulrich Sommer and his wife Gisela Sommer’s immigration to Canada with their two children Cornelius Sommer and Angelika Sommer in 1954. Also contains letters confirming Ulrich and Gisela Sommer passed an exam designed for new Canadians that was established by the Government of Ontario’s Department of Education Information Branch. Records include letters, greeting cards, postcards, children’s drawings, pamphlets, hand-drawn floor plans, wallpaper samples, a cross-stitch sampler, and photographs of family members.

Correspondence primarily between members of the Sommer family. Of special interest is a letter written by Eduard Höpken on May 29, 1965 revealing that he was a dedicated member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany since 1930. Eduard claimed that he reinstated his support for the political party after 1945. In this letter, Eduard wrote about the development of laws to provide the state increased control during emergencies. Also contains correspondence between the Sommer family and Friederich Joachim. Friederich Joachim adopted Ulrich Sommer as an adult and he lived in Germany. Records include letters, post cards, birth announcements, and a funeral invitation.

A programme outlining the events and activities of the Royal Air Forces Ex-P.O.W. Association international reunion for kriegies held in London, England from May 13-16, 1977. The programme belonged to Cameron Hill who attended the reunion.
Also includes one press clipping from an unknown publication describing a dinner held during the reunion where attendees, including more than 300 Canadians, dined with Prince Philip, consort of Elizabeth II, Queen of Great Britain.

Four receipts issued to Cameron Hill while he was temporarily stationed on the Isle of Man with leave to Bournemouth, England between May 11, 1945 and May 31, 1945.
Two of the receipts are from James Lay & Co. Limited, a clothier located in Douglas, the capital town of the Isle of Man for the purchase of a pair of pajamas and two suits. One receipt is for Cameron's tab at the Officer's Mess, R.C.A.F. Station in the town of Bournemouth dated May 29, 1945. One receipt is possibly for a hotel room or a similar accommodation also dated May 29, 1945.
