Material created and accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament when he accompanied Peter Mackay, then Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Budapest, Hungary to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Hungary Revolution and to participate in bilateral meetings in Warsaw, Poland between October 20-24, 2006. Records include invitations, programs, and correspondence such as a letter of welcome from Robert Hage, Canada's Ambassador to Hungary. Also includes tickets to events such as the Canada Salutes Hungary Gala in Budapest, Hungary, and a memorial publication published by the Hungarian Culture Centre Mindszenty Hall in Windsor, Ontario. In addition, the file contains a briefing book for Hungary and Poland as well as a presentation folder containing a program of events for celebrations in Hungary and other textual material.

A copy of a report titled, Report of Housing Needs: Federally Sentenced Women Grand Valley Institution Kitchener, Ontario prepared by Dr. Susan Arai, Dr. Alison Pedlar, and Dr. Susan Shaw. The report examines the housing needs of federally sentenced women following their release from Grand Valley Institution in Kitchener, Ontario. Also includes a copy of supplementary data to the report. It is not known how or why Andrew Telegdi acquired these reports.

Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to Ashley Smith, a teenager who died on October 19, 2007 while incarcerated at the Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, Ontario. Records include an information sheet containing details about Ashely Smith’s case as well as a list of questions for Stockwell Day, then Member of Parliament and Minister of Public Safety, and Rob Nicholson, then Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. The questions focus on Ashley Smith and the conditions of her confinement and death as well as the Canadian prison system. Additionally, the file includes a report containing copies of news articles from media outlets across Canada related to Ashley Smith. It is not known how or why Andrew Telegdi acquired these records.

Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to crime prevention in the Waterloo region. Records include documents highlighting Telegdi’s involvement with the Waterloo Region Community Safety and Crime Prevention Council such as correspondence, agendas, and invitations. Also includes news releases, information sheets, a paper titled, Agenda for a Safe Canada, an invitation to attend a crime prevention public forum at the University of Waterloo, and an agenda for a meeting of the Working Together Against Hate Crimes committee. Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to Grand Valley Institution for Women (GVI) in Kitchener, Ontario. Records include correspondence between Telegdi and Dianne Brown, Warden, GVI. In this correspondence, Telegdi asked Brown for information on the number of women returning to GVI with a new offence versus a suspension. In later correspondence, Brown provided Telegdi a series of appendices from a report titled, Mental Health Strategy for Women Offenders containing statistics on women prisoners related to mental health, revocations, segregations, and releases. Several appendixes provide statistical information on similar topics specifically related to Indigenous women in prison.

The file also includes an agenda and two reports possibly provided to Telegdi during a site visit to GVI in 2008. The first report provides a brief statistical overview of the facility structure, organizational chart, facility profile, facility expenditures, population profile, offender profile, escapees, and offender complaints and grievances. The second report provides a detailed description of the prison and its operational units, population, reintegration programs, correctional programs, mental health programs, education and employment programs, social programs, and Indigenous programs including Circles of Change. The report also outlines various groups and committees that offer support to women at GVI including Native Sisterhood, Black Inmates and Friends Assembly (BIFA), and the Lifers and Long-term group. Moreover, the report describes the GVI’s community partnerships, and escorted temporary absence programs.

A certificate issued by Stéphane Dion, then Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, to the Returning Officer for the electoral district of Kitchener-Waterloo confirming that Andrew Telegdi had the endorsement of the Liberal Party of Canada. This certificate was signed by Stéphane Dion in Ottawa, Ontario and was likely issued after Telegdi was nominated as the candidate to represent the Library Party in the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo in the 2008 Canadian federal election.

Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his post-political career related to the Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, Ontario. Records include an overview of the correctional, mental health, reintegration, educational, and other programs at the facility.

In addition, the file contains program statistics and an anonymous letter from a federally sentenced women about the intrusive nature of prison searches. Moreover, the file contains a list of issues at the facility written by an unknown individual that notably asserts Indigenous inmates are over-represented in the general population and maximum secure unit and that certain behaviours are more strictly enforced with Indigenous inmates causing them to be frequently segregated.

Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his post-political career related to crime prevention in the Region of Waterloo. Records include agendas, minutes, notes, and related material from the Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council and the Crime Prevention Council of Waterloo Region Alumni Group. Andrew Telegdi was a member of the Crime Prevention Council of Waterloo Region Alumni Group. In addition, the file contains a flyer advertising a day of national remembrance and action on violence against women as well as material related to the Canadian firearms registry including a statement from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.

A certificate to the Returning Officer for the electoral district of Kitchener-Waterloo certifying that Andrew Telegdi had the endorsement of the Liberal Party of Canada in the electoral district named above. The certificate was signed in Ottawa, Ontario on May 6, 2011.

Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi related to the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre’s equity and inclusion fundraising dinner held in his honour. Telegdi previously served as the President of the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre and the dinner honoured his extensive contribution to the organization and the local community. The dinner was held on November 29, 2012 at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. Scenes include the Queen greeting various dignitaries including the Kitchener mayor, archdeacons, reverends, and veterans. Also included are views of the surrounding area and gathered crowd, as well as the Oxlea Tower, the Kitchener's Farmers’ Market and panorama shots of the event.

File contains negatives depicting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's visit to Kitchener during the royal visit of Ontario in 1973. Negatives show scenes of the royal couple arriving at the Kitchener Canadian National Railway (CNR) station for their departure to London, Ontario. Included are shots of the Queen signing a guest book on stage as well as receiving gifts from the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo. The Concordia’s choir and the Dutch Boy Cadets are also seen singing and playing music during the event.
