Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to Ashley Smith, a teenager who died on October 19, 2007 while incarcerated at the Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, Ontario. Records include an information sheet containing details about Ashely Smith’s case as well as a list of questions for Stockwell Day, then Member of Parliament and Minister of Public Safety, and Rob Nicholson, then Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. The questions focus on Ashley Smith and the conditions of her confinement and death as well as the Canadian prison system. Additionally, the file includes a report containing copies of news articles from media outlets across Canada related to Ashley Smith. It is not known how or why Andrew Telegdi acquired these records.

Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to Grand Valley Institution for Women (GVI) in Kitchener, Ontario. Records include correspondence between Telegdi and Dianne Brown, Warden, GVI. In this correspondence, Telegdi asked Brown for information on the number of women returning to GVI with a new offence versus a suspension. In later correspondence, Brown provided Telegdi a series of appendices from a report titled, Mental Health Strategy for Women Offenders containing statistics on women prisoners related to mental health, revocations, segregations, and releases. Several appendixes provide statistical information on similar topics specifically related to Indigenous women in prison.
The file also includes an agenda and two reports possibly provided to Telegdi during a site visit to GVI in 2008. The first report provides a brief statistical overview of the facility structure, organizational chart, facility profile, facility expenditures, population profile, offender profile, escapees, and offender complaints and grievances. The second report provides a detailed description of the prison and its operational units, population, reintegration programs, correctional programs, mental health programs, education and employment programs, social programs, and Indigenous programs including Circles of Change. The report also outlines various groups and committees that offer support to women at GVI including Native Sisterhood, Black Inmates and Friends Assembly (BIFA), and the Lifers and Long-term group. Moreover, the report describes the GVI’s community partnerships, and escorted temporary absence programs.

In addition, the file contains program statistics and an anonymous letter from a federally sentenced women about the intrusive nature of prison searches. Moreover, the file contains a list of issues at the facility written by an unknown individual that notably asserts Indigenous inmates are over-represented in the general population and maximum secure unit and that certain behaviours are more strictly enforced with Indigenous inmates causing them to be frequently segregated.

Commercially-produced baby book regarding Jean May Schneider, daughter of Fred H. and Ella Schneider, born March 18, 1923. Includes 51 snapshots of Jean May and other infants including: Gwenith Washburn, "Bobbie" Menzies, David and Ruth Halliwell, Charles Bowman White, Mary Caroline Shupe, Katherine and John [Siegner?], Betsy and Tommy Koelher, Elaine Woolner. Some snapshots were taken at Clifton Cottage, Southampton, Ont. One snapshots includes a view of the house at 25 Courtland Ave. W. in Kitchener, Ont. Others show children playing outdoors in the winter.

File consists of material relating to the production of advertising material for the Reverse Osmosis Division of Electrohome. Includes photographs, copy negatives, contact sheets, and a slide of reverse osmosis systems and applications; single-sheet advertisements for ultrafiltration systems soluble oil waste treatment and for maple sap concentration by reverse osmosis; and blank letterhead. Some of the photographs depict reverse osmosis systems at Bud Automotive (Kitchener, ON), TRW Canada Ltd. (St. Catharines, ON), Schwitzer (Stratford, ON), and an unidentified plant in Windsor, ON.
Some photographs have been mounted on board and retouched. Duplicate photographs are present.

Two copies of an information sheet for bowlers participating in the ninth annual bowlathon presented by Youth in Conflict with the Law and Community Justice Initiatives. The bowlathon was held at Victoria Bowlerama in Kitchener, Ontario and was intended to raise money for Youth in Conflict with the Law and Community Justice Initiatives. Money was collected through the cost for bowlers to participate and sponsors pledging money to support a particular bowler. Both copies of the information sheet contain handwritten notes on the verso.
