A log book published by the War Prisoners Aid of the Young Men's Christian Association in Geneva, Switzerland and given to Cameron Hill while he was a prisoner of war during the Second World War. Includes the original letter sent with the book to Cameron Hill by the Young Men's Christian Association.

Cameron filled the log book with poetry, diary entries, lists of rations, excerpts from correspondence, contact information for fellow prisoners of war that he met, and artwork completed by himself or other prisoners of war. In addition, Cameron pasted greeting cards, a photograph as well as Italian and German prisoner of war camp vouchers into the book.

Inside a pocket adhered to the back cover of the log book, Cameron stored additional items he accumulated before and after he was captured as a prisoner of war. This includes a Royal Canadian Air Force leave or pass form issued to Cameron in Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as cinema and opera house tickets for shows in England and a ticket from Iceland for an unknown event or activity. In addition, the pocket contains a Christmas card from the Vatican dated to 1942, an additional memorandum book filled with diary entries, Italian stamps, loose notes, a postal censorship slip, 1 Deutsche Mark, and a 10 Belgian franc banknote.

The diary includes press clippings, a convocation program, letters, telegrams, notes, pressed flowers, restaurant menus, business cards, event programs, and a photograph likely of Betty and an unknown individual. In addition, numerous entries describe events and activities related to the Second World War including an entry written on Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) on May 8, 1945, an entry written on Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day) on August 15, 1945 as well as entries describing food rationing, and the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd president of the United States (1933–45). Also includes one United States Army Anti-Aircraft Command sleeve insignia. The insignia is circular with an embroidered white background, blue border, and two red capital letter A's in the centre.

Travel diary written by Mary Ham to record her experience travelling and working as a camp counselor in western Canada during the summer of 1949. Diary entries were written chronologically by date and describe Mary's experiences over the course of one day. The diary is incomplete as the entries end on August 11, 1949 while Mary is still in Alberta, Canada subsequently leaving no record of her travels to Vancouver, British Columbia and her passage home.

Contains one brown cloth and leather bound notebook with graph paper pages. Some pages are numbered. Entries are sporadic, written in in pencil, and are dated. Includes lists of Platoon members, their identification numbers, and whether they were wounded or killed, as well as contact addresses for Edmonds' family and friends. Diary entries begin with March 8, 1867, but this whole section is marked cancelled and is re-copied starting April 8, 1867. It begins with a record of Tobias' trip to Missouri to see his father, leaving his wife Mary Schantz (nee Moyer) with their 3-year old son Orpheus and new baby Etta, born the previous October. Tobias' father Benjamin with his second wife Margaret and children had gone to homestead near Wellville, west of St. Louis, in 1866. Tobias records his impressions of the countryside, the people, the prospects, the discouragement of all but his father with life in Missouri (March 17th). On July 2 he returns to Canada to where he is then living (near "Campden" --Grimsby within walking distance.) Throughout the diary Tobias records the weather and a daily health bulletin, letters sent and received, as well as his daily reading. He goes through periods of recording his meals. Tobias also lists all the work he does every day. He mentions setting the water for porridge, making the bed, polishing his son's shoes, carrying the baby to church, etc. On Nov. 9 he took a bath, on Nov. 25 he "did not sleep short of midnight. Was talking with Mary about my thought, troubles about religion ...". All parts of the diary have been filled with writing, dating as far as 1889 -- some accounts, recipes both household and medical (many give source), a record of the family tree -- births, marriages, deaths, transcribed songs, and an account probably written in Conestogo ca. 1875 of his spiritual trials and tribulations dating from 1862 and his efforts to achieve inner peace. This account is continued in the "other book," although it is not clear what book this referred to.

The Kitchener, Waterloo & Bridgeport Coal Dealers Association was organized April 20, 1919 to bring dealers together at regular intervals "to discuss matters of importance to the coal trade." This minute book contains records of meetings from the founding in 1919 to 1927. The minutes record decisions made about the conduct of business, retail prices, dicounts and terms, in the K-W area.

Insertions: ephemera and loose items found in this volume include: price list for coal, coke and wood, 1915; clippings, 1920-1937, correspondence, invoices. Two items of correspondence from 1933 deal with coal prices for the Family Relief Board and for the Kitchener Public Schools. The earliest document entitled "Coal Memo" is a copy of an agreement, signed by three parties, A.A. Pipe, J. Fennell, Kloepfer & Co., re prices and suppliers for public buildings including the Post Office and Poor House.

A manuscript notebook that records the details of séances held by a group of individuals in Weston-super-Mare, England between April 16, 1924 and February 27, 1925. The handwritten entries in the notebook describe the manner in which a circle was opened to begin the séance, any images seen or sensed, whether or not a spirit appeared, all questions and answers made by sitters and spirits, and often include a general summation of the séance. An index featuring a list of topics raised during the séances and the name of the spirit who discussed the topic is available at the back of the notebook. Inserted between page 250 and 251 is a poem handwritten on a blue card dated February 17, 1945 and addressed to Dora written by J. & A.P. In addition, the notebook contains a photograph pasted onto the verso of the flyleaf. The photograph shows four men and eight women, possibly the members of the Spiritualist circle in Weston-super-Mare, England.

A diary entry for Apr. 9, 1872 indicates that Shoults moved to live in Jae Hoover's house in Altona on this date. Descriptions of family, social, and parish visits are also contained in this diary, as well as the names of countless friends and acquaintances. Shoults also describes the gardening work he carries out during the year. Budget estimates relating to personal finances are additonally included in this diary. This diary also includes an insert in the form of a ts. list of the six underlying principles of the Christian Church.
