Don Jail escape : exhibit photo album.

File consists of an album of photographs used as evidence in the case of the 1952 jail break of the Boyd Gang at the Don Jail. The photographs are listed in the front of the album, but they have been left in original order in the album itself (not chronological). The photographs were taken by Det. Sergt. Maurice Inglis of the Toronto Police. Also includes a clipping from 1990 on the break out.

Includes a clipping of The American Soroptimist article "Soroptimist of the Month: High Flying Designer", a heavily underlined clipping from an unknown publication, and a typescript biography about MacGill's life. Included is a page torn from an unknown publication with an article by MacGill about her mother Helen Gregory MacGill.

Also in the file is an incomplete manuscript letter to Elizabeth Long on Valance Patriarche letterhead from Victoria [British Columbia]. The letter may have been written by Betty Patriarche and includes details about the relationships between Helen Gregory MacGill and various families, including the Patriarches and Miles O'Reilly Jarvis, some of whom are mentioned in a biography written about Helen by Elizabeth. A typescript note included in the file to the Librarian from Elizabeth Long indicates that material regarding MacGill's biography of her mother should be "handled with extreme discretion until about 1980", may be referring to the contents of the Patriache letter.

Three items of correspondence received by Dr. S.F. Leavine in his capacity as M.P.P (PC) for Waterloo North between 1954-1956.
The first item is a letter (dated June 4, 1954) to Leavine from Leslie F. Bowman, Clerk and Treasurer of the Town of Gananoque in Ontario. This letter contains information on Bowman's education and career, in response to a request from Leavine, and appears to form an application by Bowman for a position as a member of a city board (unspecified). The second is a letter (dated May 27, 1955) to Leavine from A.D. McKenzie at the Provincial Headquarters of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario regarding the voting rules as they relate to names omitted from the voters list, advance polls, and homes for the aged. The final letter is addressed to Leavine from Steven O'Casey of the law firm Wintermeyer, Askin & Casey relating to a panel discussion to be held on February 15, 1956, specifically the sequence of events and with a list of questions to be discussed by Leavine and other participants. Leavine's handwritten notes about on his answers to the questions are included.

Notebook containing handwritten speech notes by Mayor Leavine including a speech given at the YMCA in January 1957 and one at Waterloo County Automobile Club in February 1957. Also contains notes regarding the construction of the new police building, and regarding the municipalities and local politics. Loose ephemeral material includes gas bills sent to Dr. S.F Leavine in 1957; the business card of life insurance broker Syd Davies; the Civil Defence Identification card issued to Leavine on January 31, 1957; a clipping regarding a debate surrounding the appropriate location for the new police building in Kitchener; and a receipt and letter dated March 12, 1957 to Leavine from the Rev. Albert W. Lotz of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church thanking him for a donation.
