Diary maintained by Harry J. Byers during his time in Russia from 1930-1931. The diary is titled "Mile stones a five year diary", is ring-bound, and has ca. 202 one-sided leaves, with two days per leaf. The diary includes daily entries detailing general activities, conditions in Russia, places Harry and Violet Byers stayed, meals, sickness and health, agricultural details, how the Grain Trust Russian Five Year Plan was going, details of social activities and events, notes from friends, lists of books read while in Russia, and lists of names and addresses of acquaintances. Some entries are written by Harry's wife Violet and a few include words in Russian.

L. Breithaupt factory : day book.

File consists of one day book belonging to Louis Breithaupt. The pages are numbered by hand to p. 60 and are variously headed "Buffalo" and "Berlin". It is uncertain whether handwriting is contemporary or added later by Louis Jacob Breithaupt,.

p. 1-53 contain entries from June 1852 to Oct. 1861 relating to his business in Buffalo, N.Y. [and probably Berlin as well as of 1857].
p. 54-55 written on by Louis J. Breithaupt, Jan. 7, 1870. "Facts" and penmanship practice.
p. 56 accounts resume at Nov. [1861?] Page is headed "Breithaupt & Strauss". Accounts appear to relate to business in Berlin. P. [68] contains an entry on Oct. 20 [1862?] relating to balance "Schoellkopf " according to statement. Page is headed "Buffalo, September 1861" in an unidentified handwriting.
p. [70] ends with entry for Jan. 1863. Page [71] overleaf starts at Nov. 18, 1865 and is weekly accounts, including wages paid to named individuals in "Beam House", "Currier Shop", "Yard." P. [78] headed "Berlin Dec. 23rd 1865" contains annotation: "This was written by P. Cress: all on this page but this."
Accounts continue to p. [185] ending with June 22, 1867.
p. [186] begins day book described on end leaf as "Team book kept by Louis J. Breithaupt Berlin, Ont., 1869-1870. The first entry is dated Aug. 13, 1869. Entries concern loads carried by various teams, what was carried and where carried to, threshing, plowing, etc.. LJB would be 15 years old at this time. Ends at p. [236], entry for Sept. 15, 1870.

P. [238] contains inscription: "L.J. Breithaupt, Berlin, Ont., student of Berlin Central School, Berlin Ontario, Sept. 15, 1870. Page also contains a list of "Old bricks for inside wall of house."

File consists of one notebook used as a diary by Albert L. Breithaupt from June 10 to August 29, 1896, while on a trip to England, Scotland and Germany, with family members. The first entries are written in Berlin, Ontario. Of note is the entry for June 10, 1894 that gives an account of the last Sabbath in the "old church". Albert paraphrases the speech given by his mother, Catharine, with her recollections of the Sunday School in Berlin.

File consists of a notebook kept by Minnie O'Hara Maines with minutes from meetings with the Executive Committee, the Education Committee, the Committee for English-speaking classes at the YWCA, and the Canadian Affairs Group. Also included are two reports from 1957 and 1958 summarizing the activities of the Council's Service, Education, and Social committees; brochures from 1966 and 1967 outlining the general responsibilities and scope of the council; as well as a 1960 letter from Victoria Ullman to Maines, in which Ullman is thanking Maines for the bursary she received, are also included in the file.

Also included in the file is an index of recipes and the original seller's note.

The t.p. is also signed "Hervey Bowman, Steelton, Pennsylvania", and contains his personal accounts and expenses for a trip taken in May-July 1891, as well as inserted notes and ephemera. This notebook also contains lists of survey crews (which included H.M., F.M. and A.M. Bowman) for areas of Northern Ontario: Township of Hess Algoma District (Summer, 1888), Townships 24 and 28, Manitoba (Aug-Sept.1890), Township of Gladman, Nippissing (Fall 1890), Township of Ware, Thunder Bay (Aug.-Sept. 1891).

Ca. [60] p. ms. diary in notebook kept by J. H. Shoults. The first section of this diary was written from Shoults' home in Whitevale, but from Oct. 26, 1870 he writes from his new home in the 9th Concession of Pickering Township. The last entry contained in this diary is dated Oct. 15, 1871.

This diary includes entries recording personal, social, and professional activities as well as accounts of weather conditions. Initially the entries are written daily, but the latter entries are sporadic. A synopsis of 1870 written by Shoults is also contained in this diary.The diary entries indicate that Shoults has given up teaching at this point and is engaged in working for the Christian Church full-time. Reference is made to the sermons which he prepared and delivered, to church services and meetings he attended, to a Christian conference, and to baptisms and funerals. Some lists of names of converts to the church are included in this diary along with the the name of the place where these individuals first embraced this new religion, the date of their baptism, and the date when they were first united with the church. Reference is also made in this diary to family, social, and parish visits (including the names of many friends and acquaintances), to farming activities, and shopping and errands run by him. Details of farm product and food prices are also included in this diary.

Ca. [44] p. ms. diary contained in a coverless notebook kept by J. H. Shoults. This diary covers the period July 1, 1878 to Dec. 31, 1878 when Shoults lived in Little Britain, and it contains daily entries recording personal, social, and professional activities, as well as accounts of weather conditions. Diary entries relate to Shoults' activities as a minister, and include the names of the places where he preached and of the Bible readings which formed the basis for his services. Ms. diaries contained in two coverless notebooks kept by J. H. Shoults. The first ca. [74] p. ms. diary covers the period Jan. 1, 1880 - Aug. 31, 1880. The second ca. [36] p. ms. diary covers the period Sept. 1, 1880 - Dec. 31, 1880. These diaries contain daily entries recording Shoults' personal, social, and professional activities. Accounts of weather conditions are also contained in these diaries. During 1880 Shoults moved from Newmarket to Kettleby (see diary entry Oct. 21, 1880), and subsequently in Dec. 1880 he appears to have moved to "Mt. Pleasant". The majority of entries in these diaries relate to Shoults' activities as a minister, and include the names of the places where he preached and of the Bible readings which formed the basis for his services. File consists of a notebook prepared by K. Mary E. Shaw on housewifery, and appears to be her notes for teaching this course. The syllabus covers all aspects of running an Edwardian household, from scullery, house and parlour work, hygiene, sick nursing, and keeping accounts. Volume contains neat ink ms. on ruled paper with pasted-in cuttings from trade catalogues and books, detailed drawings, etc., in marbled boards covered with original unbleached linen.

Notebook includes a folder with annotations made by Tutte referring to the content and pages with his annotations divided into twelve sections.

Diary of Frederick Arthur Edmonds.

Contains one black leather bound notebook used by Frederick Arthur Edmonds as a diary. The notebook is ruled, contains some numbered pages, and opens lengthwise. Entries are dated and sporadic, are written in pencil, and include a chart of the names of soldiers from the 16th Platoon, with their identification number, rank, age, marital status, date of arrival in France, religion, next of kin, trade, and courses. Includes a loose leaf of paper in the front pocket of the notebook, and several blank pages. The diary entries are titled "My diary since leaving the 'Ypres Salient'", and detail the movement of troops, destinations, times leaving and arriving places, encampments, training progress, weather, distances from place to place in kilometres, locations of battles, places billeted, conditions in the trenches, descriptions of battles, objectives, conditions, attacks, general notes about casualties, tanks, mines, and descriptions of Edmonds' stay in the Paris Plaz hospital and Le Havre hospital. The diary goes up until just before Vimy Ridge, when Edmonds is invalided home.

File consists of one lined volume used as a scrapbook, notebook and diary by Luella Creighton while at Victoria College. Contains only a few written entries with much ephemeral material inserted, illustrative of university life of the time. Ephemera includes dance cards, programmes, menus, tickets, announcements, invitations, news clippings, etc. Of special note is the menu and programme for the Graduating Class Dinner, March 26, 1926, autographed by E.J. Pratt with "(good luck)" and at which Henri Lassere was the soloist.
