Series consists of visual material produced and accumulated by various personnel and departments within Electrohome. Some of the material may have been used by Robert Lovell, Public Relations Manager (1963 to ca. 1988), or his successors, as it appears that some photographs were taken for internal and external publicity purposes.

Some of the material appears to have been pulled from elsewhere in collection, probably for use in Raymond Stanton's book Visionary Thinking: The Story of Canada's Electrohome, or for other purposes associated with the 90th anniversary celebration or researching company history. Includes photographs, slides, negatives, transparencies, contact sheets, and printing proofs.

File consists of a leather-bound volume containing the minutes of meetings of the directors and of the shareholders of Phonola Company of Canada Limited from 1917 to 1931. The minutes are glued to the pages of the notebook. File also includes a meeting notice, a form appointing Arthur B. Pollock as proxy for the Royal Bank of Canada, and two letters, one addressed to Clement & Clement Barristers &c. (Kitchener, ON) and one addressed to Arthur B. Pollock.

File consists of 30 gramophone records, including seven Phonola records. Some of the records were probably used for in-store phonograph demonstrations and some were used for advertising purposes. Includes 17.5 cm, 25 cm, and 30 cm (7", 10", and 12") records of the following labels: Phonola, Parlophon-Record, His Majesty's Voice Victor, RCA Victor Red Seal, Odeon, Arrow, Okeh, Apex, Favorite Record, Beka-Meister Record, United Artists, Columbia, and Capitol. Series includes advertisements for products distributed by Electrohome (Marantz, Imperial Lighting), produced by an Electrohome subsidiary (Campbell Electric, Fry & Blackhall, Flexsteel), or produced by Electrohome as a private trade label (Viking, for Eaton's, and Serenader, for Simpson's), as well as the Acoustech, Soundesign, Planar, Phonola, and Trendholm product lines. Series consists of financial records for Electrohome and its subsidiary companies, including Hawkesville Lumber (acquired 1965), Campbell Electric (acquired 1960), International Electrohome (incorporated 1962), Electrohome Communications (incorporated 1970), and Flexsteel Industries (Canada) (acquired 1972). Series also includes material compiled for presentations to the Canadian government's Enterprise Development Board, which insured part of a $25 million term loan to the company from the Royal Bank of Canada in 1977. Includes financial statements and reports, a ledger, and other material.

File consists of a scrapbook of press clippings, photographs, snapshots, telegrams, and ephemera relating to Carl A. Pollock and his activities as Electrohome president and chairman of the board of directors and his involvement in the community. Scrapbook also contains material relating to Pollock's wife Helen (including a 1926 snapshot of the two of them), their 1929 wedding, and Pollock's studies at Oxford University. Material in scrapbook covers mainly the period from 1925 to 1963. Scrapbook also contains some loose material.

File consists of a leather-bound volume containing material relating to the incorporation of the Grimes Radio Corporation Limited and the Board of Directors. Includes carbon copies of the charter and the by-laws, minutes of meetings of the directors and of the shareholders from incorporation in 1925 to the surrender of the company's charter in 1939, and registers of directors and shareholders. File also includes an original, sealed copy of the letters patent. Some material is glued to the pages of the volume.

Museum and Archives

Series consists of material relating to the development, organization, and operation of a company museum and archives. The museum was originally established in 1967 as a centennial project and part of the 60th anniversary celebration, in order to display products produced by Electrohome since 1907. John Koegler was the company historian and museum curator.

The museum as well as the company archives were given renewed attention in preparation for the company's 90th anniversary and the production of a corporate history book in 1997. At that time, William McGregor (former vice-president of Electrohome) was involved museum administration, and Nicola McLaughlin was hired to research company history and process and manage the archives.

Series includes material relating to the day-to-day operation of the museum and archives, the collection and processing of items, and the recording of historical information. Includes forms, correspondence, memoranda, press clippings, photocopies of historical advertisements and other documents, photographs and slides, ms. notes, meeting minutes, and other material.
