General note

Based on material available in this accession, it appears that the Architecture Reading Room was originally a part of the Faculty of Environment and began operating in November 1969 although the circulation of books did not begin until February 1971. At that time, the reading room was in a 25-square foot room in the School of Architecture building at 419 Philip Street, Kitchener. Around 1979, the Faculty of Environment (including the School of Architecture and the Architecture Reading Room) had to move out of the Philip Street location. Subsequently, it was proposed that the Architecture Reading Room merge with the University Map Library to form a new Design Library.
