General note
David Gunby was conducting research on the history of the No. 40 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. Cameron Hill was a former member of this squadron. David Gunby wrote to Cameron to try and learn more about the squadron's history based on Cameron's memories. At the time Cameron received this letter, he was unwell and this is likely why he did not complete his reply to David Gunby.
David Gunby eventually published a book about the history of the No. 40 Squadron of the Royal Air Force titled, 'Sweeping the skies : a history of 40 Squadron Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force, 1916-56.'
