At the time of donation to the University of Waterloo the records were in the possession of descendants of Albert Liborius Breithaupt, youngest child of Louis and Catharine Hailer Breithaupt. A.L. Breithaupt and his family lived with Albert's mother Catharine in "Waldeck" the family home. Records were received stored in a wooden chest, bags and metal boxes.

The accrual consists of records related to various members of the Breithaupt family including business activities, correspondence and biographical information.
