Notebook.

A small notebook containing Hervey's notes, timetables, expenses, calculations, as well as transcription and explanation of humorous German anecdotes, and what appear to be transcriptions of headstones of Weaver and Bowman family members, with comments on the stone and condition.

This notebook was used by Isaac L. Bowman, and may also contain items written by Hervey Bowman. It contains notes and calculations regarding deeds and descriptions done, a list of medicines and clothes to pack to take to Port Arthur for survey work (1892), list of books (1892), several pages of cash accounts, receipts and disbursements, for Council, of which Isaac L. Bowman was Treasurer (1889).

Collection consists of two scrapbooks maintained by William Phillips. The first includes clippings from newspapers and magazines that date from 1890 to 1914. Included are articles on topics relating to spiritualism, advertisements for mediums, and advertising for spiritualism products including the Ouija board. These materials are glued into "A History of Europe" and most clippings feature underlining of important sections.

The second scrapbook includes both clippings as well as handwritten notes from the spirit world. The notes were sent from friends and family of William Phillips including his wife Elizabeth, sister Fanny, brother John Edward and father Joseph. The notes primarily came through medium P.L.O.A. Keeler at Lily Dale. Most of the clippings are advertisements for publications relating to spiritualism and the occult.

6 b&w images of King St. in Waterloo. Two appear to be originals, the rest are prints taken from publications, and include contacts, negatives and duplicate prints in various sizes. Most show the "Commercial Buildings," built in 1857 on the east side of King St. at Erb, where the Seagram General store was located. One original, cut from an album [?] has a photograph of a turn-of-the-century lacrosse team pasted on the verso.

A printed paper wreath and a printed poem that were likely meant to be hung on a wall. On the verso of the poem is a stamp indicating that the poem was presented to E.U.M. Sunday School, Berlin.
