Consists of a ts. student paper titled "A report concerning the Grand River Conservation Authority," prepared by Melanie Forrest, Sharon Holder, Jeff Long, Sherry Moulton, James Canale-Parola and Harold Snider, [University of Waterloo] Planning students, contained in a binder. The report reviews the history, mandate and development of the Grand River Conservation Authority and examines its performance in the areas of water and land and resource management. Includes maps of the Conestoga, Elora Gorge, and Luther Marsh Conservation Areas, respectively.

Consists of a published booklet titled, Conserving the waters of the Grand River : a necessary public work, by the Grand River Conservation Commission, June, 1936. The booklet reviews the GRCC's general plan for conservation of waters of the Grand River, particularly its proposals to establish reservoirs upon the upper reaches of the Grand River and its tributaries. Accompanying the publication is a cover letter from William Philip, Chairman, Grand River Conservation Commission to an unidentified recipient, dated August 19, 193

Inserted in the booklet are :

  • printed itinerary titled, "Route of Trip Along Grand River," by the Grand River Valley Boards of Trade, Thursday, September 24, 1931, which lists proposed dam sites from Kitchener, Ont. to Grand Valley, Ont. to be visited by the Grand River Valley Boards of Trade members;
  • ts.(photocopy) [draft?] of a periodical titled, Our Valley : Grand Valley Conservation Authority, Vol.1, no.2 (June, 1954): 1-4; and
  • Department of Planning & Development pamphlet titled Conestogo Dam and Reservoir, which includes background information and map of the proposed dam site. The words, Turning of the first sod, May 30, 1955 have been handwritten on the pamphlet.

The Brant Waterways Foundation works to preserve, protect and restore waterways and their associated lands in Brant County, Ont.

of a film of skiers at the Chicopee Ski Club, Kitchener, Ont. as it appeared in 1935-36 and in the early 1940s. The maker of the film is identified as Norman Schneider on the original listing provided by the GRCA.

Consists of a videocassette transfer of 8 mm film footage including scenes of the CPR rail yards possibly in Elora or Fergus, Ont.; snow removal activities after a major snowstorm in an unidentified location, possibly Fergus, Ont.; and a building demolition. The footage was taken by Hugh Templin, GRCA Commissioner and editor of the Fergus News Record, Fergus, Ont.

Consists of a videocassette of 8 mm film footage of various phases of the construction of the Shand Dam and Lake Belwood, near Belwood, Ont. The footage was taken by Hugh Templin, a commissioner of the Grand River Conservation Commission and editor of the Fergus News Record.

Consists of a videocassette transfer of 8 mm. film footage of the construction of the Shand Dam, near Belwood, Ont and of the disembarking of HRH George VI and Queen Elizabeth, from the royal train at Guelph, Ont. in 1939. The film was made by Ron Muller.

Consists of ts.(photocopy) manual of peacetime emergency plans for the municipalities of the City of Brantford, Town of Paris, Townships of Burford, Oakland, South Dumfries, Onondaga, and Brantford, assembled by the Brant County Emergency Measures Organization. Includes township, town and city by-laws regarding emergency services operations. Also present is a cover` ms. memo dated March 10, 1977 to Ilmar Kao, Grand River Conservation Authority from Gerald Axworthy which lists the contents of the manual.

Includes ms.(original) river watch reports concerning ice and water flow conditions, by the GRCA; and ts.(photocopy) correspondence from the GRCA

Also contains ts. (photocopy) excerpt of General Manager's report to the Executive Committee, April 27, 1979, and three maps produced by Canada Department of Energy, Mines and Resources showing the Grand River and its tributaries in the environs of Galt, Brantford and Guelph, Ont., respectively. The maps have been annotated or otherwise marked to show areas of ice jams and other features associated with flooding.

Includes correspondence, offprints and photocopies of periodical articles, pamphlets concerning control of flood damage.

Also present are blueline charts of rainfall amounts of Grand River run-off, prepared by the Grand River Conservation Commission, 1948 and blueline graph of water flow at Lake Conestogo, Belwood Reservoir and other sites on the Grand River System, prepared by the GRCC, 1960.
