Acres & Company Limited?] for the Grand River Conservation Commission concerning the investigation of dam sites on the upper Grand River. Includes a cover letter from H.G. Acres to F.P. Adams, Secretary-Treasurer of the Grand River Conservation, February 15, 1939.

Also present are blackline maps of the Grand River Valley and Luther Marsh Area, and blackline plans of Shand, Belwood and Pilkington Dam Sites. Also contains photographs of [core samples?] from the Shand, Belwood and Pilkington sites. A blueline drawing of the Conestogo Dam Foundation , No. 5, 1954 by H. Barnett, H.G. & Acres Co., Ltd., is inserted.

Series consists of 8mm and 16mm films accumulated by, and produced for the Grand River Conservation Authority. The majority of these films have been transferred to videocassette and DVD, which are also found in the GRCA fonds. Also contains masters and working prints of a number of films produced for the Grand River Conservation Authority by Summit Film Productions. These films depict scenes along the Lower, Mid and Upper Grand; dam construction outside Guelph, Ontario; GRCA conservation areas; and also contain footage of Grand River flooding.

According to information provided on the original GRCA box listing, the film was made by Norman Schneider and narration was added later by Herb Schneider, and Ralph Beaumont and Jim Bauer; of the Grand River Conservation Authority.

Includes an index maintained on rolodex cards.

Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario : Engineering Department : memorandum and report.

Consists consists of a ts. (photoreproduction) of a memorandum of an investigation by the Hydro-Electric Commission dated June 16, 1938, concerning alternative dam sites on the Grand River above Fergus, Ont. Includes a covering letter by O. Holden, Chief Hydraulic Engineer, Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario, Engineering Department.

Also includes a ts.(photoreproduction) report by the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario, Engineering Department, showing yearly minimum flow levels measured at various points on the Grand River, 1914-1936. The report is accompanied by a covering letter by O. Holden dated August 13, 1938.

Also present is a letter from the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests Surveys Branch to the Grand River Conservation Commission, dated February 23, 1939 concerning cost allotment by municipality for improvements to the Grand River.

Consists of records relating to a conference titled Conference on River Valley Development in Southern Ontario, sponsored by the Ontario Department of Planning and Development, held in London, Ontario, October 13 and 14, 1944. Includes printed conference programme, newsclipping, ts.[drafts and final?] conference paper on Grand River conservation prepared by E.F.Roberts, Secretary-Treasurer, Grand River Conservation Commission, October 13, 1944, and ts. conference resolutions.

Also present are : an advanced proof of a publication titled, Flood Control in Southwestern Ontario, containing papers presented at the annual meetings of the Institute in London, Ont., February 2, 1938; and an article from The Star Weekly, March 18, 1939, titled, "Battling Old Man River," by R.C.Reade, concerning plans to build the Shand Dam on the Grand River.

Consists of a topographical map produced by the Geographical Section, Department of National Defence in 1939. The map has been annotated to show the Guelph and Eramosa damsites. The annotations may have been made at the design phase of the Guelph dam ca. 1971. Includes a reprint and mockup of an article titled, "Guelph Dam and Reservoir, Ontario," The Canadian Architect, (June, 1977), and an article titled "Guelph Micro-Hydro System," Your Valley (Spring, 1983).
