News clippings from 1980-1981 relate primarily to the Waterloo County Women Teachers' Association's aim to obtain a written policy guaranteeing equal-opportunity rights for women teachers from the county board of education. One clipping from 1988 reports that the receipt of a provincial award for employment equity advances by the Waterloo county board of education is an "embarrassment". Sue Coulter, a member of this board, says that this is the case because the board has failed to live up to the honour since receiving this award.

Contains news clippings which appeared in The Globe and Mail focusing on Ontario teachers' opposition to Bill 274 designed to prevent mass resignations submitted by teachers from taking effect on Dec. 31, 1973. This bill would instead impose compulsory arbitration to resolve disputed contract issues. Actions taken by teachers to oppose this bill included a province-wide strike on Dec. 18, 1973.
