Ephemera : Wild Flower Preservation Society.

Five identical decal prints from the Wild Flower Preservation Society: Illinois Chapter. The decals say "Enjoy-Do Not Destroy" around the edge and the middle shows a drawing of pink blossoms. The Wild Flower Preservation Society was a branch of the Illinois Audubon Society of which Orpheus Schantz was a board member.

Five hand lettered visiting cards of Jennie Moyer, Edmund Warren Moyer, Austin Schantz, and Orpheus Moyer Schantz and F.J. Ottmax. The cards of Edmund and Jennie list them as living at 3823 Langley Ave., Chicago. The card of Orpheus and F.J. Ottmax is inscribed "A Happy New Year 1889."

Ephemera : menu.

One envelope with the name "Austin" containing one folded dinner menu. The menu is hand lettered and the recto reads " Austin T. Schantz April 21, 1894." The interior lists a series of riddles, the answers to which are not given, but which assumedly are the plates for dinner. The menu is lettered in Orpheus Schantz's hand.

Two business cards of Orpheus Moyer Schantz from when he was employed by Carson, Pirie & Company (now Carson, Pirie, Scott & Company). One card is professionally printed and shows the company's office, the other has been hand lettered on a small piece of painted canvas. In 1890 the company became Carson, Pirie & Scott, and in 1904 they moved to the landmark Carson, Pirie, Scott and Company Building. Now called Carson's, the company continues to be an important Chicago business.

Ltd., Chicago ; Alex M. Rivenburg, D.D.S., Chicago ; Chinese and Japanese Store, Chicago ; The Northern Trust Company Bank, Chicago (with timecard from Chicago to Wilmette on verso) ; J.H. Kelley, agent for O.R. Gilbert & Co., Taxidermy and Furs, Council Bluffs, Iowa ; Blair Union Christian Endeavour Society, annotated by Carrie Belle Blaschke (unfolds to show listing of lectures for the season) ; C.F. Steckleberg, Music Teacher and Soloist, Council Bluff, Iowa. Of interest to note is that C.F. Steckleberg was head of the violin department at University of Nebraska School of Music.

Seventeen letters, primarily postcards, from Dorothy's family and friends. Includes letters from Franklin Abram Schantz, Florence Annie Catherine Schantz and Orpheus Moyer Schantz as well as friends congratulating her on completing teacher's school. Also included are one Valentine's card from Ruth Schantz and one empty envelope.

Three card advertisements for Hazellet & Moyer, Cedar Falls, Iowa. The cards are advertising the purchase of Jamestown alpaca dress goods which will be sold at Hazlett & Moyer.

Hazlett and Moyer is possibly the dry goods company in which Levi Nash Moyer, Jacob Nash Moyer and Orpheus Moyer Schantz were partners in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

A scribbling book belonging to Orpheus Moyer Schantz. The notebook was later passed on to Sophie Emma Schantz who added her own notes. Ephemeral material has been removed and original locations have been indicated. Note that some ephemeral material was written by Etta Schantz White.
