Shand dam : construction.

Consists of six photographs of the Shand Dam site on the Grand River above Fergus, Ontario, during the construction phase. The following identifications are provided on verso:

  • Shand : widening and deepening river diversion.
  • Shand : looking west across dam showing forms for east wing wall;
  • Shand : commencing concrete operations on east wing wall; Shand: pouring concrete by means of pumpcrete machine;
  • Shand : east wing wall completed for winter, showing backfill; Shand : floor of spillway prepared for winter.

Consists of a ts. (carbon copy) corrected draft report on the existing state and future development of conservation lands managed by the Grand Valley Conservation Authority / [by] C. Edward Spearin, August 21, 1964. Includes photographs and blueline maps of GVCA conservation lands in the Paris-Brantford, Kitchener and Galt-Preston areas.

Plan for flood control and water conservation in the Grand River Watershed : submitted to the Government of Ontario represented by the Honourable J.R. Simonett, Minister, the Department of Energy and Resources Management, and the Government of Canada represented by the Honourable Arthur Laing, Minister of Northern Affairs and Natural Resources.

Consists of a ts.brief prepared by the Grand River Conservation Commission to demonstrate to federal and provincial authorities the need for proposed multi-purpose reservoirs and other control work the Grand River Watershed.

Includes four blackline maps of proposed reservoir catchment areas in Ayr and West Montrose, Ont. and flood stage maps of the cities of Brantford, Paris and Galt, Ont., prepared by J.M. Tomlinson & Associates Ltd, Consulting Engineers, January, 1964. Also present are photographs of floodwaters in the Grand River Watershed at Brantford, Galt and Paris, March 20-22,1948.

Consists of slides of various wildflowers identified by species on an ms. list on the interior lid of the slide tray case. Also includes slides of insects and amphibians.

Luther Marsh slides : tray number 2.

Consists of slides of flora, fauna, farming and recreational activities at Luther Marsh and its surroundings, which were employed in a slide show. Identifications are provided on an ms. list on the interior lid of the slide tray; but many of those listed are not present. Includes slides of migratory birds, blue herons and their nesting grounds, various trees and plant life and crop harvesting.
According to the original GRCA listing, the slides were taken by Bill Miller.

Consists of slides of flora, fauna, farming and recreational activities at Luther Marsh and its surroundings, which were apparently employed in a slide show. Identifications are provided on an ms. list on the interior lid of the slide tray; but many of those listed are not present; those present are not in any order. Includes slides of the Shand Dam, bird banding, blue herons and their nesting grounds and crop harvesting.
