Memorial of Benedict Arnold.

File consists of one typescript of a petition by Benedict Arnold requesting 1500 acres of land in Upper Canada for him and his family to reward him for his service. Originally written in April 1798.

Mr. Robertson of Strowan to Lord Mar.

One letter address to My Lord [Lord Mar] from Mr. Robertson of Strowan dated December 15, 1716. The letter gives an account of the journey through France that Robertson has taken to meet Lord Mar as well as news of his traveling companions. Also includes a later copy of the letter. Lord Mar was a major figure in the Jacobite uprising of 1715 and and fled to France shortly thereafter.

File consists of manuscript notes on various topics of interest, primarily early Canadian settlement, written by Dr. Canniff. Topics include: the settlement of Perth, Loyalists, refugees, Wainfleet Township, Caistor Township, Barton Township, Glanford Township, Bertie Township, Gainsborough Township, Binbrook Township, Saltfleet Township, Clinton Township, Grimsby Township, Louth Township, Humberstone Township, Grantham Township, Stamford Township, Long Point Country, Governor Simcoe, Burlington, Whitby, Ottawa, Rebellion of 1776, Brockville and others. Also includes one item of correspondence from M.R. Morden. Note that some of the notes are written on the verso of handbills, memos, and recommendations from Victoria University Medical School.

New York Herald.

File consist of the April 15, 1865 edition of the New York Herald. This edition reports on the assassination of Lincoln.

Notes on teaching.

File consists of one notebook with manuscript notes on how to get a placement as a teacher and how to set up and teach in a classroom. Original finding aid indicates that the notes were written by M.G. Sherk [i.e. Scherck].

Petition of Abraham Rapelje.

File consists of one typescript of a petition of Abraham Rapelje regarding a land grant. Rapelje commanded a company of the second regiment of the Norfolk Militia in 1812-1813 and was later Lieutenant Colonel commanding the First Regiment of same. Originally dated April 16, 1800.

File consists of one ts. of a petition of Jacob Farand on behalf of persons who have claims to certain lands in the Eastern District regarding ownership of lands in the district. Originally dated October 12, 1802.

File consists of one ts. of a petition of John Cornwall regarding establishing a school. Cornwall was a member of the Legislative Assembly for Essex and Suffolk. Originally dated June 28, 1800.

File consists of one ts. of a petition of John Miller regarding his desire for a loan for millstones. Also includes a ts. of a supporting letter. Originally dated January 6, 1801.
