More than 2 million negatives taken between 1938 and 2001 by staff photographers at the Kitchener-Waterloo Record (KWR) and its predecessors. Providing a historical look at the Region of Waterloo, the Collection includes documentary photographs of local news events, community activities, regional development, human-interest stories, businesses, schools, and sports teams. Portraits of business and community leaders, as well as commissioned photos taken for advertising purposes, are part of the Collection. It also includes scrapbooks containing clippings and pictures that appeared in the paper from 1971 to 1995.

Fonds consists of material relating to the life and career of George Elmore Reaman. His position as superintendent of the Bowmanville Training School for Boys and later of the Glen Lawrence School is represented by clippings, photographs and ephemera. His interest in a wide variety of topics, including psychology, education, agriculture and history are represented by correspondence, research files and manuscripts. Fonds consists of twelve daily diaries, intermittently spanning between 1907 and 1948, that contain entries pertaining to daily farm operations. Included, though unrelated, are two ledgers from a Berlin (Kitchener), Ontario general store for the years 1893 and 1907. Accounts listed include purchases by John King, father of William Lyon Mackenzie King, that help document the lifestyle of the King family while living at Woodside, now a National Historic Site.

William Daum Euler was also elected to the House of Commons of Canada (1917) and Nicholas Asmussen to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (1919-1926). Both represented Waterloo North, Ontario in their Federal political office.

One photograph of the Budds Department Store annual picnic, held August 20, 1947. The photograph shows 82 people, including men, women, and children. The picnic attendees appear to include the owners and employees of the three Budds Department Store locations, as well as their families. The photograph was taken outside in an undisclosed location and the subjects appear relaxed and informal.

Material created or accumulated by the Honourable Andrew Telegdi related to his life and career. Records in this fonds document Telegdi’s early career as a bistro owner and rock music promoter in British Columbia as well as his experiences as a student at the University of Waterloo. In addition, the material records his work as an Executive Director for Youth in Conflict with the Law. Most notably, the fonds documents Telegdi’s extensive political career as a City and Regional Councillor as well as a Member of Parliament. Additional records capture Telegdi’s post-political career and personal activities.

The Sims family collection encompasses records of the Sims and Cook, Davidson and Garden families retained by members of the two family branches that came together when Harvey James Sims and Florence Katherine Roos married in 1902. Their Sims and Davidson forbears were equally significant in the history of the Waterloo-Wellington area and in the growth and development of agriculture, education, business and government. Harvey James Sims and Florence Katherine Roos were deeply involved in their local community of Berlin, (later Kitchener) Ontario and their own records contain significant additions to our knowledge of local personalities and affairs. Harvey was a childhood and lifelong friend of William Lyon Mackenzie King; they wrote and visited each other regularly. King's sister Bella was also a close friend of Florence from school days on.

Two sets of minutes from the St. Jacob's Literary and Debating Society. The minutes include lists of members, as well as debate topics and outcomes. Debate topics include work life, the railway, social services, roles of men and women, annexing Canada to the United States, and more.

File consists of pages from a ledger book from the Acadian Athletic Club. The book includes meeting minutes from the first meeting, as well as for subsequent meetings, and accounts information.

Material relating to members of the Isaac Lucius Bowman family, their interests and activities. Some of the most significant local material in the fonds originates with the Bowman family. Isaac Lucius Bowman was born at Freeport in 1830, and was founder and principal of the Freeport Academy from 1867-1872. This very early educational institution is here documented with Proceedings of the Academy, ephemera, and two photographs of the members of the Academy. I. L. Bowman then trained to be a Provincial Land Surveyor, and many of the very early plans and maps in the fonds are from the Bowman Family belongings. Of his four sons, three also became surveyors and Engineers, while Hervey attended the Universities of Toronto and the Leipzig. His files relate mostly to his educational pursuits, but include some other family-related materials.

Notes and ephemera relating to the history of the Meyer and Bowman families that were created or accumulated by Hervey Bowman. Includes genealogy records of Meyer family members in Switzerland and in Iowa, one item of correspondence from a family member seeking copies of the information, notes on the life of E.M. Bowman, a death certificate for Henry Rudy who died in Nashville, Tennessee during the American civil war, a list of Ferguson grandchildren, a note regarding Mr. Right's fence in Woolwich, and a note certifying John Meyer as an agent of the Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

The parcel in question is noted as being "a certain parcel on tract of land in the Township of Waterloo in Richard Beasley Lower Block on the Northside of the Grand River containing one hundred acres ... being composed of the Eastern half of lot number four in the Second Concession beginning at a post planted equal distance from the front to rear on the division line between lotts number three and four which is the south east corner of Jacob [M] half of the same lott. The fonds contains materials relating to the history, products, employees, equipment and manufacturing processes of the Rubber Machinery Shops of the Dominion Tire Co. Ltd, and its parent companies from ca. 1914 to ca. 2004.

Includes over 1600 photographs of staff at work, receiving awards and at leisure; manufacturing processes and machines; products made by RMS for used in their parent companies and for contracts; interior, exterior and aerial views of Dominion Rubber facilities across Canada; and photographs taken for publication in RMS and parent company newsletters as well as local media.

Also included is information on company history, including newspaper clippings, press releases, leaflets and in-house publications; sales and marketing materials including advertisement proofs, brochures, leaflets, and major equipment listings; company publicity materials including parent company publications, and company portfolios; and RMS created office files including salary and company organizational charts, and industrial relations materials.

Fonds consists of material created and accumulated mainly by Ivan W. Keffer, and some by his wife Mary L. Keffer, that documents the lives and activities of the Keffers, especially during the time they lived in Germany. Records also relate to the career of Ivan W. Keffer at the F.W. Woolworth Co. Includes diaries, correspondence, photographs, souvenir postcards and other ephemera, personal documents, reports, clippings, and other material.

Fonds consists of records documenting most aspects of the development of the Central Ontario Art Association, the events and activities of the association, and its administration and membership in the period from its formation in 1954 to about 2000, with some gaps in coverage. The records were accumulated by various members and some organization was imposed by the association for the purpose of researching its history.

Fonds consists of material related to the family of J.B. English of Plattsville, Ontario. Includes a store ledger dated 1916-1923; two 19th century photographs; and a folder of genealogical information including a family tree.

A significant portion of the fonds relates to the businesses he formed outside of his professional career, the Westmount Construction Company and Westmont Enterprises Limited, for the period from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. The fonds is not comprehensive, lacking documentation relating to the formation and administration of the Westmount Construction Company and Westmont Enterprises Limited and containing only a small amount of material relating the other area of his entrepreneurial activities, investment and financial services.
