Series consists of approximately 1600 slides relating to activities and facilities at all three buildings : Queen St., A.R. Kaufman Y and Waterloo Family Y. There are many duplicates, many undated and unidentified. They are grouped and described as they were found on arrival: some in envelopes, some in slide boxes, some loose, and approximately 500 in a binder.

Two audio cassettes containing a recording of the salute to Joseph Orr Connell on his retirement from the YMCA in May 1976. Presentations during the salute included opening remarks, a history of Joseph Connell’s time served in the YMCA, speeches by friends and YMCA members about Joseph Connell’s impact and legacy on the YMCA locally and nationally.

Cousins, National Executive Director of the YMCA in the United States, at the annual meeting of the YMCA’s of Canada held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 13, 1984. His presentation discussed a number of topics including increased anti-immigration sentiments in the United States, economic inflation, and the rising cost of living in North America.

Side 1 and 2; a recording of a presentation given by Margaret Catley-Carlson, President of the Canadian International Development Agency at the annual meeting of the YMCA’s of Canada held in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 16, 1984. This presentation was part of plenary session V and discussed the power and potential of the voluntary sector in humanitarian efforts and shortfalls of the current government. Additionally, she talked about the power of organizations like the YMCA to respond to change and confront the dangers of nuclear war, threats to the environment, and the continuing problem of world poverty. Some parts of Margaret Catley-Carlson’s speech were delivered in French.
