File consists of a commemorative tape measure produced for Electrohome's 50th anniversary. "Deilcraft furniture" is inscribed on the tape measure, which is contained in a box printed with the gold and blue 50th anniversary logo. The box is approximately 4.5 x 4.5 x 1.0 cm.

Series consists of records accumulated and used by Robert Lovell in his role as Public Relations Manager (1963-1988). Includes mainly material relating to services provided by Electrohome for NASA at the John F. Kennedy Space Centre for the launch of the space shuttle Columbia on November 12, 1981: correspondence and memoranda, ms. notes, newsletters, advertising and promotional material, newspaper clippings, photographs, and other material.

Series also includes records accumulated by Lovell in his role on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Kitchener-Waterloo Inc.: agendas and minutes of meetings, correspondence to board members, etc.

File consists of material from the fourth section of the binder Design lecture series, 1974 (1), relating to the planning of the 1974 lecture series, particularly the events in Montreal. Includes correspondence, memoranda, ms. notes, a schedule of events, biographies of speakers, a lecture series program, two copies of keynote speaker George Nelson's introductory talk entitled "Design: the universal necessity" (30 leaves), and several copies of a photograph of Nelson.

File also includes a reprint of an article by Nelson in the October 2, 1971 issue of Saturday Review of Literature entitled "Design, technology, and the pursuit of ugliness".

George Nelson was president of George Nelson and Company, Designers and Planners (New York, NY) and a partner in the architectural firm of Nelson and Chadwick.

The portfolios are not identical and some appear incomplete.

Publicity : Internal Publications

Series consists of company newsletters and bulletins, produced and distributed for internal communications and publicity purposes.

The employee newsletter Sparks and Chips was begun by Carl A. Pollock to foster inter-employee relationships and management-employee relations. The first issue was published on December 18, 1942, with Pollock as the first editor. It ran until ca. 1977. In 1980, a new company newsletter, Electrohome Update, was introduced to provide employees news on company people, products, and policies. In 1990, this newsletter was merged with Electrohome World, which contained news of the corporation's marketing activities for the dealer/distributor network in North America and abroad; the new Electrohome World was published for employees and dealer/distributors. Sparks and Chips: the next generation was introduced in 1994 as an informal newsletter for reporting plant activities, news, and ideas.

Several other internal newsletters and bulletins were published over the history of Electrohome.
