Much of the material relates to the activities of the Land Use Committee and issues surrounding planning and development in the Muskoka region, and some material also relates to taxation, pollution, water safety, and other issues.

Includes leaflets and programs advertising the show, working lists of boats and exhibitors, invitations and RSVP cards, correspondence (including some drafts, faxes and e-mail print outs), boat histories and information, event permits, a photocopy of a by-law, etc.

File consists of material relating to Cottage Watch, a program to reduce cottage break-ins developed in partnership between the OPP, Federation of Ontario Cottage Associations, and local cottage associations. Includes photocopied newspaper clippings, typed notes, photocopies of a program brochure and memorandum to OPP detachment commanders, and a photocopied report from the Bracebridge OPP detachement.

Crime and policing.

File consists of material relating to crime and policing in the Muskoka region, the development of a 911 service in the region, and a public forum on crime held in Bracebridge in March, 1998. Includes photocopied clippings from newspapers and the association newsletter, drafts of a presentation by Kathy Aitken prepared for the public forum, handwritten notes, typed notes, etc.

File consists of material relating to the Ontario School Board Reduction Task Force recommendations, which included the amalgamation of the Muskoka and Simcoe County school boards. The Muskoka Lakes Association was concerned with a potential increase in property tax as a result.

Includes photocopied and faxed correspondence, photocopied newspaper clippings, an interim report from the task force, a news release from the Muskoka Board of Education, etc. Correspondence is from the Director of Education and the Chair of the Muskoka Board of Education to MLA president Joan Booth and vice-president Don Hewgill.

Includes memoranda from Jim Balfour to Gayle Dempsey, a photocopy of the decision of the Ontario Municipal Board regarding the by-law, a notice of public meeting, a report by the association, and a copy of the by-law and its zone schedules.
