The author's opinion is that the teachers' use of union tactics to get higher pay may have meant that in some peoples' eyes they have lost their professional image. He/She believes, however, that they remain professionals in spite of this.

Other clippings report that Joan Westcott of Kitchener was acclaimed president of the F.W.T.A.O. in 1978.

This bill would instead impose compulsory arbitration to resolve disputed contract issues. Actions taken by teachers to oppose this bill included a province-wide strike on Dec. 18, 1973.
