Nancy-Lou Patterson fonds : 2021 accrual.

Student portfolio created by Nancy-Lou Patterson and presented as a special art project in January 1947, possibly during her time at the University of Washington. Art project is of story The Princess and the Goblin and includes a front cover with a small illustration of a castle with mountains in the background, eleven drawings made by Patterson, and a back cover. Drawings were drawn with pencil and then coloured with watercolours. Drawings depict moments of the story of princess Irene and her friend Curdie, with bright colours and dynamic scenes, and include subtitles with information about the section of the story to which they belong. Sections are:

It seems that Nancy-Lou Patterson was a member of this committee in 1988.

Contains a letter (dated Jan. 29, 1998) received by Nancy-Lou Patterson from Wayne Hammond re a drawing sent to him by Nancy-Lou Patterson to be used in the souvenir book produced for the centenary celebration of Lewis' life hosted by the Mythopoeic Society in Wheaton, Illinois in July 1998. Also includes photocopy of this illustration.

Contains memo sent to the sculpture committee of the City of Waterloo by Deborah Bricknell on July 16, 1987. Nancy-Lou Patterson was a member of this committee. Also contains the resumés of 26 sculptors who entered the City of Waterloo/CN Real Estate Sculpture Competition in 1987. Additionally includes typed lists of slides of sculptors' works submitted for review by the jury.

Contains correspondence, ephemera, handwritten notes, sketches, graphs, a colour chart, and 28 col. snapshots depicting the needlepoint kneelers designed by Nancy-Lou Patterson for the Church of the Messiah in Toronto, Ont. Also includes 29 col. snapshots of flowers and other vegetation which presumably played an important role in determining the colours and designs for these kneelers.

St. Thomas Church: Book of Remembrance.

Contains correspondence exchanged between Colin Radford and Nancy-Lou Patterson re a memorial page for Harriet Williams in memory of John B. Williams who gave St. Thomas the new permanent candles for the Advent Wreath and who was active on the vestry of this church for many years. Nancy-Lou Patterson replies that she would be happy to design this memorial page and to take on any other design commissions for other memorial pages as requested.

Contains clippings, correspondence, forms, ephemera, handwritten notes, a press release, and 17 col. snapshots re an exhibition entitled "Nancy-Lou Patterson: The Canadian years 1962-1995" which took place in 1995 at the Homer Watson House & Gallery. Also includes typed and handwritten title cards produced for items displayed in this exhibition, as well as handwritten and typed documents including a biographical sketch and the artist's statement produced for this exhibition.

Other items contained in this file include the contract drawn up between Nancy-Lou Patterson and the Homer Watson House & Gallery for the purposes of this exhibition, as well as handwritten and typed lists of the pieces to be displayed. Also includes 2 4 p. phtocopied handwritten lists of selected works installed in architectural settings by Nancy-Lou Patterson, and a 7 p. original typed list of the exhibitions in which the artist has participated in Canada in the period 1963-1995.

This file also contains biographical clippings about Nancy-Lou Patterson from 1963 and 1990. Also includes clippings, correspondence, ephemera, handwritten notes, and photocopied tss. re an exhibition entitled "Puppet Play and Phantasy" which took place at the Homer Watson House in 1987. Illustrations by Nancy-Lou Patterson from Apple Staff and Silver Crown were displayed in this exhibition.

Finally, this file contains a photocopy of a news release issued by the Homer Watson House & Gallery and photocopied clippings all of which relate to the Doon School of Fine Arts. Barricade Summer: Brucedale Press.

Contains a wide variety of materials relating to Barricade Summer including a Listening Response Log, created by Ann Larsen, to accompany the novel Barricade Summer (Port Elgin, Ont. : Brucedale Press, 1997). Some announcements and advertising for this novel issued by Brucedale Press are also contained in this folder.

Also includes clippings from newspapers and serial publications. A few of these clippings have a biographical focus, while most relate to book promotion events and readings from Barricade Summer given by Nancy-Lou Patterson at public libraries, at bookstores, at schools on the Bruce Peninsula, and at other locations. Flyers which were produced for these readings are also contained in this file.

Also included in this file are typed itinearies of the author and hand-drawn maps relating to readings she gave at various schools on the Bruce Peninsula during 1996. This file also includes book reviews of Barricade Summer.

Also contained in this file is correspondence. Much of it takes the form of illustrated cards and letters sent to the author by children at schools where Nancy-Lou Patterson gave readings. Other correspondence included in this file takes the form of letters sent to the author by Brucedale Press regarding Barricade Summer and correspondence with other individuals regarding the promotional events for Barricade Summer .

32 col. photographs, most of which were taken during the author's readings at schools on the Bruce Peninsula, are also contained in this file, as well as illustrated banners presumably made by the children in these schools in honour of Nancy-Lou Patterson's visits. Also incudes b&w photocopy of photographs of children (unidentified).
