Highlights include descriptions of Washington neighbourhoods such as English Hill (north east of Judiciary square) and The Island (south of the mall) as well as references to the beginning of the American Civil War. In the back of the diary are lists including parishioners in Tewksbury, Massachusetts 1871, list of parishioners in Wallingford, Vermont, 1889, record of school Wallingford, Vermont, 1883, and list of members of an unknown committee in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, 1875.
