A copy of Dare Cookie News, volume 1, no. 1 released in 1975. The front page of this volume highlights the pinto promotion, which was launched by Dare Foods Limited in 1975. The promotion involved the give-away of seven Ford Pinto station wagons, the distribution of over 3 million coupons, in-store displays of Dare cookies and the placement of point of purchase advertising material throughout Ontario. The promotion was likely launched to encourage certain supermarket chains to relist Dare products following the strike in 1972.

This file also includes a memorandum written by Bryan Dare providing detailed historical information about the pinto promotion.

The [ca. 1961] package contained one pound or 28 biscuits and is orange, bronze and white in colour. The [1977] package contained eight-and-a-half ounces and is red, white, brown, and bronze in colour. File also contains a Maple Sugar Creme cookie tin tie package that contained one pound of cookies. The Maple Sugar Creme packages preceeded the Maple Leaf Creme packages and also contained one pound of cookies.

Contains one film reel of Dare Foods Limited television advertisements. The film consists of two identical versions of "Dare Delicious," [EN] and two identical versions of "Opera," [FR]. Each film is 30 seconds in length and features white actors.

The Dare Delicious films feature a jingle with the same name. They include shots of children eating and stacking towers of cookies, hands taking cookies off of a serving plate, a tuba player, and a butler holding a plate of cookies. The films end with a child taking a bite of a cookie and stating: "Dare delicious."

The Opera films feature a French version of the Dare Delicious jingle. They include an opera starring two children singing as another child, dressed as a villain in a cape and hat, tries to steal cookies being watched by an audience eating Dare cookies. The films end with the child actors smiling at the camera and stating: "Les bons gagnent tout le temps."
