Six images of a Pennsylvania Dutch banked barn that belonged to Johannes Schmidt ca. 1809 and is now owned by Black Creek Pioneer Village. One image appeared in the first edition of Rempel's book, three appeared in the second edition of his book, and two did not appear in either edition.

There is a caption pasted below the image that reads: "In order to keep the logs from shifting at openings two methods were used: either "trunnels" as mentioned previously, or "toggles". These were short lengths of heavy studding notched into the logs at right angles."
