Includes position and discussion papers and memoranda about the program prepared by members of the association, a letter, handwritten notes, and an issue of Canadian Environmental Law News (vol. 5, no. 3, 1976).

File consists of material relating to the activities of the Communications and Public Affairs Committee. Includes a survey of association members by Gordon Lusty Survey Research (Don Mills, ON) and the results, a draft of the mandate of the Land Use, Taxation, and Highways Committee (photocopy) and information about its activities, and a letter to a newspaper editor by chairman Jeffrey Shearer in response to an editorial about the association, with photocopies of both.

President's Files : Michael Vaughan

Series consists of the working files of Michael Vaughan containing material created, accumulated and used by Vaughan during his involvement with the MLA from 1969 to 1986. Records relate mainly to his role as member (1969-1975), vice-chair (1975-1977), chair (1977-1982), and past chair (1982-1984) of the Committee on Land Use, Taxation, and Highways; and as vice-president (1982-1984) and president (1984-1986) of the association.

Series also includes records relating to various other committees, issues, and events. The Committee on Land Use, Taxation, and Highways was responsible for examining and responding to town planning, development, and other land use issues in the Muskoka region. One of the developments of major concern during Vaughan's tenure as chair was a proposed resort at the Roseneath property on Beaumaris Island, and several files in this series relate to this issue.

Series includes correspondence, memoranda, reports, studies, presentations, meeting agendas and minutes, handwritten and typed notes, newspaper clippings, newsletters, agreements, maps and plans, and other material.

Commemorative book : Muskoka Lakes Association minutes, 1892-1927.

File consists of photocopies of annual meeting minutes and other documents bound into a hardcover volume. Includes annual meeting minutes for the years 1894-1924, 1926-1928, some with Executive Committee reports; Executive Committee minutes for 1922-1926; Regatta Committee minutes for 1894; Cottagers' Committee minutes for 1896; a telegram from the King (1906); and undated certificates of measurement for named boats. All documents are photocopies.

Half-bound in leather and green paper sides; marbled endpapers. Book probably created to commemorate the centennial of the association.

File consists of material found inside the commemorative volume containing a record of events held during the centennial year. Includes a typed draft of the book's colophon, an invitation to the centennial day celebration, a photograph of the association office in the winter, and two red regatta ribbons.

File consists of a commemorative book made for the centennial year of the Muskoka Lakes Association in 1994. The book contains a record of each event held during that year and the signatures of guests and members present, as well as other information. Events include the annual general meeting, centennial day, antique boat show, aquatic and sailing regattas, and a bonspiel. The book is made from acid-free paper, partially bound, and contains original calligraphy and drawings.

The thesis is entitled Seasonal/permanent planning issues in Muskoka.

Accrual consists of material documenting aspects of the administration and activities of the Muskoka Lakes Association and some of its committees, mainly during the period from 1978 to 2003. During this time, the primary political and environmental concerns of the association included land use and resort development, taxation, water quality, and relationships with municipal and provincial governments.

Accrual contains records created and accumulated by chairs of political, environmental, and land use committees and by several presidents, as well as records relating to office administration and other committees and activities of the association.
