He played a central role in the events which led to the integration of the former College of Optometry of Ontario with the University of Waterloo, where it now continues as the School of Optometry, within the University of Waterloo Faculty of Science. He was appointed Director of the School of Optometry on July 1, 1967, and served in that role until 1975. Dr. Fisher retired in 1982.
