Luther Marsh management plan : maps.

Two items - an aerial image of the Luther Marsh Wildlife Management Area compiled from aerial photography flown 1979-1980; it has markings in red and blue ink and is titled, "5 yr. plan." The other item is "Luther Marsh Wildlife Management Area," black-line map with title: "Wildlife swamps, non-forestry priority." Includes highlighting, annotations relating to tree information.

Consists of ts. minutes of the Executive Committee of the Grand River Conservation Commission pasted into a bound volume.

Also present are:

  • correspondence from the Executive Committee to the Chairman and Members of the Grand River Conservation Commission;
  • a printed copy of Province of Ontario legislation entitled An Act to Provide for the Conservation of Water in the Grand River Valley, 1938 which defined the powers of the Grand River Conservation Commission and established the guidelines for selection and composition of the Executive Committee;
  • printed muncipal voting lists from West Garafaxa township, 1942; and
  • a packet of cancelled cheques dated January to November, 1941.

Consists of a published booklet titled, Conserving the waters of the Grand River : a necessary public work, by the Grand River Conservation Commission, June, 1936. The booklet reviews the GRCC's general plan for conservation of waters of the Grand River, particularly its proposals to establish reservoirs upon the upper reaches of the Grand River and its tributaries. Accompanying the publication is a cover letter from William Philip, Chairman, Grand River Conservation Commission to an unidentified recipient, dated August 19, 193

Inserted in the booklet are :

  • printed itinerary titled, "Route of Trip Along Grand River," by the Grand River Valley Boards of Trade, Thursday, September 24, 1931, which lists proposed dam sites from Kitchener, Ont. to Grand Valley, Ont. to be visited by the Grand River Valley Boards of Trade members;
  • ts.(photocopy) [draft?] of a periodical titled, Our Valley : Grand Valley Conservation Authority, Vol.1, no.2 (June, 1954): 1-4; and
  • Department of Planning & Development pamphlet titled Conestogo Dam and Reservoir, which includes background information and map of the proposed dam site. The words, Turning of the first sod, May 30, 1955 have been handwritten on the pamphlet.

  • A.H. Richardson, Chief Conservation Engineer, Department of Planning and Development concerning elevation datum used at the gauge station at Brantford, work of the commission in general and discharge records for 1947 and 48 as a basis for storage need forecasting;
  • A.E.K. Bunnell, Consultant, Community Planning Branch, Dept. of Planning & Development concerning enforcement of the Grand River Act.

Includes a copy of an address by A.E.K. Bunnell "Introducing Seminar Town Planning Problems" at the Conference of the Federation of Canadian Mayors and Municipalities, London, Ont., June 12, 1951.
