Consists of a ts. report produced by the Grand River Conservation Authority regarding the activities of students employed in GRCA Administrative, Community Relations, Land Managment, Resource Planning, and Water Management Divisions as part of the Ontario Experience '76 employment program.

Consists of a binder containing ts. reports prepared by Triton Engineering Services Limited, Consulting Engineers and Planners, Orangeville, Ont. for the Grand River Conservation Authority Floodline Mapping and Flood Control Study on the upper Grand River. The reports include :

  • Phase 1 : Hydrology, Grand River : Belwood to Black Creek, October, 1975;
  • Phase 2 : Hydraulics, Grand River : Belwood to Black Creek, August, 1976; and
  • Phase 3 : Flood Control, Grand River : Belwood to Black Creek, May, 1977.

Also present are photomosaic maps of the upper Grand River floodplain, some of which have been outlined with marker.

Biological impacts of the proposed Ayr Dam.

Consists of a ts.(photocopy) student paper by Barb Anderson, Barb Corkery, John Gusdorf, John McCormick, Gregg Sheehy, Gary Williams and Roberta Winger prepared for a fourth year Man-Environment course at an unidentified University, possibly University of Waterloo. The paper considers the possible effects of a proposed dam at Ayr, Ont. upon vegetation, wildlife, water quality and landscape.

Ontario : Ministry of Natural Resources : study on evolution of floodplain management.

Consists of ts. materials concerning the initation of a provincially-funded study entitled : Study on Evaluation of Floodplain Management. The study was a joint initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ontario Ministry of Housing and concerned the impact of flood reduction from both a social and economic perspective. Also contains correspondence from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources including circular letters to the chairmen of Conservation Authorities in Ontario.

Luther Marsh slides : tray number 1.

Consists of slides of flora, fauna, farming and recreational activities at Luther Marsh and its surroundings, which were apparently employed in a slide show. Identifications are provided on an ms. list on the interior lid of the slide tray; but many of those listed are not present; those present are not in any order. Includes slides of the Shand Dam, bird banding, blue herons and their nesting grounds and crop harvesting.

According to the original GRCA listing, the slides were taken by Bill Miller.

Grand River Conservation Authority : report of the Long Range Planning Committee : five finger exercise, July 14, 1975.

Consists of ts. (photocopy) report of the Grand River Conservation Authority Long Range Planning Committee titled : "Five finger exercise." The report concerns the decision-making process of the GRCA; the phrase "five finger exercise" refers to the components of the Grand Watershed system and is meant to convey that the "watershed works as a unit even though there are component parts."

  • ts.(photocopy) notes on GRCA meeting with news media representatives, December 12, 1974;
  • ts. draft plan of flood warning system, revised, January 10, 1974 ;
  • correspondence between the Grand River Conservation Authority, member muncipalities and chiefs of police regarding flood warning systems and flood emergency preparedness;
  • ts. report titled : Report on Flood Event, May 16-19, 1974 by the GRCA; and
  • ts. list of emergency contact personnel.

Also includes ts. (photocopy) claims concerning damages associated with the Grand River flood, May 17-18, 1974 and an accounting schedule of GRCA costs associated with the Grand River Flood Inquiry, 1974.

Folder containing material relating to the Rockwood Mill. Includes a report with tile "Preservation Plan for the Rockwood Mill" by Elizabeth Kruse dated July 4 1977, that contains 33 b&w photographs pasted in. Also includes a pamphlet entitled Rockwood Conservation Area : Times Past to Times Present, ca. 1975; a Harris Woolen Mill floor plan and number key, 1974; a topographical view; two original sketches.
