No entries were logged between January 10, 1901 and April 6, 1901.
The identification page near the front of the diary partially filled out by Rieder indicates he was 24 years, with a dark complexion and weighed 134 pounds. Also included are entries regarding the sizes of his shoes, collar, cuffs, hat, shirt, gloves and underwear.
Topics of note are his burgeoning relationship with Martha Anthes, frustrations with Albert Liborius Breithaupt, business dealings with a variety of contacts including the Kaufmans, and his activities with the church-based Young People's Alliance.

Most of the letters are casual in nature providing updates about happenings in Berlin, including church sermons and social engagements.
The majority of the letters are authored by Bowlby's mother Martha Esther, with additional letters from friends, including Albert Liborius Breithaupt, and family, including father David Sovereign. Also in the file is one letter from Bowlby on personalized letterhead.
